http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/16/zachariah-grisham-charged_n_3937186.html
A 3-year-old boy from Northwest Indiana is dead after "playing a game" with his mother's boyfriend who apparently forgot he was holding a loaded gun, prosecutors say.

Monday, Zachariah Grisham, 24, was held on a $100,000 bond and charged with neglect and reckless homicide in the shooting death of 3-year-old Lance Wilson, ABC Chicago reports.

Zachariah Grisham is charged with two felonies in the death of 3-year-old Lance Wilson. (Michigan City Police)
“A child and the defendant were playing a game. A child pointed his finger at the defendant like he was shooting gun playing a game and he pointed a gun out and shot the boy,” LaPorte County Prosecutor Bob Szilagyi told CBS Chicago.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the mobile home park in Michigan City, Ind., roughly 60 miles east of Chicago along the lakeshore.

Neighbors said Lance was sitting on Grisham’s lap when the gun went off and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police tell the Post-Tribune Grisham was living in trailer with the boy’s mother. It was unclear if the mother was present at the time of the shooting.

Michigan City police are investigating.

Who the fuck plays a game with a gun?!?!? I don't give a rat's ass if it's loaded or not. That's just simply stupid on many, many levels.

I feel for the Mother. I can't even imagine losing one of mine.

I'm sure this guy feels like shit, too. He's going to feel worse while he's in jail. Maybe this will stop some dumbass from disconnecting his brain while holding a weapon.

FFS.

This is pure BS. Guns just don't go off. They don't fire themselves. Someone has to pull the trigger. If he's carrying the gun on him he KNOWS it's loaded. Why carry an unloaded gun? If he claims the kid was in his lap and the gun just went off? HE probably thought he was cool carrying a gun and wanted to show off. To stupid to know not to play with a gun like a toy and to dumb to know the safety wasn't on.

I would have to wonder if the guy just shot him in a fit of rage because he was pissed at the boy. Some people have no patience with kids. The game scenario could just be a load of crap. Were there any witnesses ? Either way, what a freakin dumb ass.

Unfortunately there is no way to detect for the condition of terminal stupidity prior to the purchase of a gun.

This afternoon I showed my Taurus to my 6 year old nephew and asked him what he could tell me about it .
He said it's loaded because I haven't seen you unload it.
So much for any excuse the "adult" might have.

If that was true, they'd be dead already.

There are 316,700,000 people in the United States, there are an estimated 162 million gun owners in the US, the term estimated is used because there are no universal registration laws for each state.

Now there are an average of 831 accidental gun deaths a year.

So I am going to have to ask for a source for your statement about the 100 million gun owners who are careless with firearms.

Bama has done a good job, in my home, no children are even allowed to enter the room where my gun safe is without an adult.

But hey, believe what you want. Even if it is wrong.

Even when unloaded it is bad manners to point a gun at someone.

Oh right. Ta. I was slightly worried there, for a minute. Only slightly. I'm not au fait with all US slang.
