http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2420783/Global-warming-just-HALF-said-Worlds-climate-scientists-admit-computers-got-effects-greenhouse-gases-wrong.html

Yet the leaked report makes the extraordinary concession that the world has been warming at only just over half the rate claimed by the IPCC in its last assessment, published in 2007.

But the new report says the true figure since 1951 has been only 0.12C per decade – a rate far below even the lowest computer prediction.

The IPCC's computer models have been pretty much conclusively proven wrong. No less than NASA and CERN have conceded that there are huge holes in the IPCC model.

There has never, really been any doubt that the they were wrong. One of the recent notable quotes about the alarmists was "what was stunning was how brazen the falsification of data was".

Once NASA 'corrected' satellite data for political purposes - not once but twice.
Once East Anglia was found to have fudged climate records and denied access to data to skeptics.

The real question is how long before we can jettison this ridiculous crap? Sadly there are a lot of entrenched political interests looking for government handouts and policies, from "atmospheric researchers" to manufacturers of solar panels.

Here are some more highlights:

lThey recognise the global warming ‘pause’ first reported by The Mail on Sunday last year is real – and concede that their computer models did not predict it. But they cannot explain why world average temperatures have not shown any statistically significant increase since 1997.

lThey admit large parts of the world were as warm as they are now for decades at a time between 950 and 1250 AD – centuries before the Industrial Revolution, and when the population and CO2 levels were both much lower.]

(IE., the same graph that I have presented here time and time again).

lThe IPCC admits that while computer models forecast a decline in Antarctic sea ice, it has actually grown to a new record high. Again, the IPCC cannot say why.

lA forecast in the 2007 report that hurricanes would become more intense has simply been dropped, without mention.

(Remember, the IPCC prediction of more hurricanes, and more intense killer hurricanes? Meanwhile hurricanes numbers and intensity decreased....)

Nic Lewis, a climate scientist and accredited ‘expert reviewer’ for the IPCC,
Lewis’s paper is scathing about the ‘future warming’ document issued by the Met Office in July, which purported to explain why the current 16-year global warming ‘pause’ is unimportant, and does not mean the ECS is lower than previously thought.

Lewis says the document made misleading claims about other scientists’ work –for example, misrepresenting important details of a study by a team that included Lewis and 14 other IPCC experts. The team’s paper, published in the prestigious journal Nature Geoscience in May, said the best estimate of the ECS was 2C or less – well under half the Met Office estimate.

He also gives evidence that another key Met Office model is inherently skewed. The result is that it will always produce high values for CO2-induced warming, no matter how its control knobs are tweaked, because its computation of the cooling effect of smoke and dust pollution – what scientists call ‘aerosol forcing’ – is simply incompatible with the real world.

I think I'll wait and read the actual report rather than believe the Mail.

One of the most important things we need to do, in order to address the environmental concerns of the modern world, is destroy the power of those who have so often hijacked science to push an unrelated socio-political agenda in the name of the environment.

Exposing abuse within the existing power structure helps us get there.

I couldn't agree more.

Its a travesty that Mann, lockgirdle, east anglia, Hansen's unit of nasa continue o receive government funding after being shown to have falsified data.

But Phydeaux, those e-mails from East Anglia were,..."stolen" so anything in them can't be used against those frat boys, right?

Wow. This borders on fraud if not actually being so.

I bet you could make a ton of money starting a whole string of psychological re-education camps. I wonder if Medicare would kick in?

Boy, like true Anal Retentives some people just can't...."let go" of this global warming fairy tale even when presented with the most damning of evidence can they?
"Auntie Em, Auntie Em, there MUST be global warming, there MUST, there MUST!"
There is a true pathology at work here.

The old report is wrong so the ipcc is not to be believed...
The new report is right so the ipcc must be believed.

I am sorry if when presented with scientic claims I tend to look for the scientific consensus rather tha depending on websites that cherry pick research that supports their agenda.

As I have explained, as the scientific consensus evolves I'll move with it... I would expect there to be many errors in most long term models.

I don't really understand how this can be characterized as dogmatic, and I have to say that I am prone to being scornful of peoe who swallow the shit they are fed by vested interest groups.

If it turns out that the ipcc was way out in its predictions, I will be as happy as anyone else

I came on this article, while browsing around this morning. It is the sort of thing I'd like to see more of - a plea to cut the hype and hysteria, so we can move on reason, instead of cult behaviors and polarization.

WaPo - Dont blame climate change for extreme weather

Just swap the word 'environment' for the phrase 'status quo' at the end of your first para, and that would actually make sense.

Interesting article. Won't sit well with the hysteria minded Greenies.

Perhaps not, but it sits fine with those of us who believe in science.

I completely agree that the silly hysteria needs to be taken out of the debate.

That'll be the silly hysteria from both sides, mind you.

You seem to have a pretty firm grasp of the obvious. That is not what this thread is about. To conflate the two is disingenuous at best.
