Good day, all! I'm Mike, a recently widowed man that is using this adjustment period in my life to explore my submissive inclinations. I've never engaged in sub activity, as my wonderful wife of 27 years wasn't interested, and I didn't want to pressure her about it. Now I find myself available to explore an aspect of my psyche that I had suppressed and am currently engaged in reading and learning of the lifestyle. I've registered on a few BDSM related sites in order to expand my horizons as I try to find answers for my questions myself. Kind of surprised to find that subs seem to greatly outnumber doms. I had never considered the ratio before, but it does seems to be a doms market from what little I've found so far. Also surprised to see some interesting fracturing within the BDSM community boards as people try to develop a comprehensive definition of acceptable dom/sub practices and limits. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Anyway, I'll be bouncing around and checking out the online scene as I try to get a handle on the differing aspects and perspectives available. I like this site. Can't seem to find an online instant message function that others seem to have though, just chat rooms. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks for reading and have a great day! Welcome to the forums. There's a really good book list as a sticky at the top of the General BDSM forum. Subs don't outnumber Doms. Men outnumber women. From what I understand there are some very lively communities in Florida. I would suggest getting out to munches and lectures/seminars. I would even suggest you volunteer. I'm sorry for you loss and good luck on your journey.

I'll check out the reference. :) Yes, I'm aware of the munches and Jacksonville Kinksters, but still a tad too new and shy to just show up in person before a group of strangers yet. Definitely NOT at the stage of volunteering for ANYTHING yet! LOL. Lord knows what I'd wind up involved in! Thank you also for your remarks on my loss. My wife and I had discussed over the years that if one should pass before the other, the remainer should go out and try to get out of Life all that is available, so I know that I have her blessing in this. You'd end up involved in serving drinks and making sure the venue is set up. It's a really good way to get to know people, support your local community and get above the constant white noise that is a male sub trying to get the attention of a female Dominant.
