Ontario police investigating hateful letter telling family to ‘euthanize’ autistic child

Ontario police are aware of a disgusting letter sent to a woman caring for an autistic child by another woman who wanted the "wild animal kid" out of her neighbourhood, even if it meant killing the child.
The hateful letter was reportedly sent last week to a resident of Newcastle, Ont., just east of Toronto, who hosts her 13-year-old grandson, Max, during summer days.
Mother Karley Begley spoke with CityNews and broke down in tears as she tried to read the letter.
The letter was re-posted on Twitter by Lennon and Maisy, a young Ontario singing duo who also star on ABC's Nashville.
The post has been retweeted more than 3,000 times.

Durham Regional Police told Yahoo! Canada News that a report was filed on Friday and an investigation is ongoing.
"We are certainly taking it seriously," spokesperson Jodi MacLean said on Monday.

"We are consulting with the Crown to see if there is any criminality that went on with the letter."

It sounds like the houses are too close- and the kid is not supervised.

First, I just want to say that the hopes of her kids turning out "normal" just dropped, seeing that kind of hatred spew out of her.

As much as I find the letter despicable, I don't see how they can charge her with anything. Now, I'm not familiar with the laws in Canada but here in the US may fall under freedom of speech.

I was pissed off when the Missouri court allowed the KKK to place their racist literature on people's windshields. I get they're allowed freedom of speech and all, but I don't want their crap spewed onto my crap.

WOW!!!

That was (REALLY) painful to read...I'm sure it's a fake doc....kids are so wonderful.

I travel 12 - 20 times a year...less in the past few years but, whenever I'm on a plane....EVERY time I get on a plane....and I usually travel in the front of the bus....the first thing I tell the flight attendants is...."if you have a loud kid and someone complains....I'll move back....anyone can have my seat".

I love the sound of babies, and I love being around any kid....especially Aspergers or similar. Those kids are fascinating.

It makes me sad to see stories of adults who freak around kids.

Free speech, in the US. Best addressed with more speech. Maybe the other neighbors could give the kid a parade.

I'm not sure how the Crown might respond...

Where are the parents? It is terrible that the kid is unsupervised.

I would imagine they are working, since the article referred to the Grandmother 'hosting the child on summer days'. As with a lot of families they probably need a babysitter when their child is not in school.

You'd think if you were sending somebody a poison pen letter, you'd take the effort to get the spelling and grammar down correctly, and check that you have the right similar sounding words in your text before sending it.
The author looks like a halfwit, as well as a mean spirited cunt, when you read that drivel...

This type of behavior angers and saddens me. I find it unconscionable that someone would attack a disabled person or the parents of a disabled person. That there are people who would do this saddens me. I hope for the best for the kid and his parents, and an epiphany for the letter writer.

Maybe if no one in the neighborhood speaks to her except to point out something her family does something "wrong" she would get the idea.

If that nasty little shriek of bile is speaking for the neigbbourhood, she's a lot better if they don't speak to her, frankly.
