myfavsock -> Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 5:07:07 PM)

Compare the site to other ones out there.

- Its design is way out of date.
- Composing a message doesn't take account of line breaks when copying from another editor.
- The instant chat/webcam doesn't work for some browsers
- The site looks like crap on mobile.
- The site is really slow sometimes!

Point 2 really annoys me. I like to take my time in composing emails. However when you copy and paste text from somewhere else, you lose all the formating and then you get a reply asking if you copy and paste it to everyone.

So what is it? Is it a case of funding or are your IT guys lazy?

Better be careful, maybe some day someone will launch a much better/functioning site.

Killerangel -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 5:26:48 PM)

What does any of that matter? I'm serious. Are you paying for a service here? I guess if it mattered to anyone then there might be something done about it, as it is things stay as they are. the owners of this site must be happy with things the way they are, or they don't feel like doing anything about it. Oh well. What can you do but opt not to use the site?
So don't use it then.

pahunkboy -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 5:39:27 PM)

I think you should complain.

Missokyst -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 6:38:29 PM)

and demand a full refund of what he pays to be here

angelikaJ -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 7:08:17 PM)

No, I think he should demand that the site double his money back.

DesFIP -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 7:12:55 PM)

Since you much prefer those other sites, go there. You're free not to patronize a company or product you dislike.

Don't worry, we won't miss you.

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 8:09:51 PM)

I actually prefer the layout of this site compared to others

As for line breaks....are you sure the other editor actually had line breaks? or was it a line wrap? (probably don't have a clue....do ya?)

This site doesn't claim to be an instant messenger

You spend too much time looking at your damn phone

Other sites are slow too if there is a lot of traffic on them

Yes, amigo, copypasta in your CMails to people 1) does not bode well for you getting an actual reply from a genuine person and 2) triggers the spam filter, as you may have discovered.

You can always ask for a refund of your membership. [8D]

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/16/2013 9:56:49 PM)

PS: OP, your profile is not found. Did you lose your favorite sock to the washing machine monster or the dryer gremlin?

SoulAlloy -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 2:01:19 AM)

I like the forum side here, I've always quite liked the KISS principle. Originally IC was similar in layout, then it changed to be more like Fetlife and I hated it, found it virtually impossible to navigate to good topics.

So copying and pasting from editors you lose the formatting, unless it's like a massive wall of text surely it would only take a few minutes to correct? Just count it as part of the time you spend. You get out the effort you put in.

It works pretty good on my mobile too, unlike the other sites out there...

Termyn8or -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 4:15:05 AM)

FR

God damn. ASK FOR IT.

Me.

metamorfosis -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 4:20:53 AM)

Some day, just for fun, Termy should show up and be all sunshine and cuddles. Freak everyone out.

jlf1961 -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 5:29:43 AM)

First of all, I cant stand change. So if the site were to change formats, I am afraid I would have to destroy the planet.

sinospel -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 5:47:11 AM)

I really hate the "it's free so you can't complain" bandwagon. Something being free doesn't make it immune to criticism, and CollarMe is definitely not a non-profit anyway, so it's moot.

There's a lot of things CollarMe could do to improve, but the admins seem to have avoided any effort for years now. The most glaring flaw is there really is no way to report abuse, fake profile pictures, spammers, and other exploiters of a site with no real moderation to speak of.

Saying, "no, fuck off, this site is perfect" helps no-one and halts all improvement.

Of course there is. People are just too lazy to use it more often than not.

You can report messages, photos or profiles on the other side and on this side you can report posts.

I agree with this. I think anybody who does it should feel morally obliged to give me my share of CM's profit, considering CM won't. Not only is it sycophantic, it also completely misunderstands how CM's business model works; the content provided by site users is the primary factor that gives CM its market value.

Owners, not admin. (On the forum at least, admin are something different. They're essentially high level moderators and have no control over the business side of CM).

However, what you describe mostly comes under the "feature, not bug" category. It's pretty evident that CM's business model is based on quantity, not quality. From their perspective, traffic is all that matters. And most of what you describe contributes to that or at least doesn't harm it. So they have no motivation to fix it.

Realistically, they've found their market niche and they'll stick with it. There probably is a gap in the market for a BDSM personals ad site. Fetlife at least showed that it is possible to compete effectively with CM for users, although they're hindered by the fact there owner is a moron. However, anyone wanting to do that would need a) technical skills and b) a sizeable amount of start-up cash. I have neither.

There is a report feature on the site that does everything you say can't be done. I would have thought that in the 3 years you have been here waiting to make your first post you might have spotted that.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 6:38:15 AM)

The site is compiled from customized old PDG software. My browser has all the latest plugins, including a "paste from Word" button that holds all the formatting. Go get your plugins.

As far as everything else you mention, the site is free. They are living skinny off of banner ads.

ETA: and yes, I have already purchased and hope to build leatherlifestyle.org.

mnottertail -> RE: Site stuck in the past (8/17/2013 7:07:45 AM)

Nobody wants this site stuck in the future, how would you get to it? Let's get real here.

You know, I only ever saw the report photo button, and never the report user, my eyes just skipped over it.
