In Italy you can't name a baby with an offensive name or a name that refers to a geographical place, in the case of places there are the exception of Asia, Europa, Italia, and America that were widely used before the law was created.
And this is in line with the legal principle that parents have the duty to "raise their offspring in the best interest of the child" and when parents fail to do this, than they are violating a right of a person that is dependant to them so an higher authority must step in. And being named something that could make the child face possible discriminations in the future just for a whim is not in the interest of the child. Now Messiah could be a grey area about this as it's not offensive to anyone but this doesn't mean they are so wise.
