Not stupidity... arrogance!

Not to mention blatant religious discrimination.

Although I agree that the name might cause the kid some problem later in life (from other religious bigots), it is not her call to make.

The judge is incredibly wrong but I wonder if parents so monumentally stupid as to name a child "Messiah" have any business raising children.

No worse than the parents who named their daughter "Marijuana". When I was teaching, I saw such.
She was a straight A student and homecoming queen and a heck of a good person.
Every time she ever meets a cop, she's gonna catch hell.

Marijuana's parents win for sure the "I just was not thinking" award, but Messiha's are the best, they went in front of a judge to let him/her decide about the name arguing on DeShawn and they were both positive for Messiah. Just a curiosity hillwilliam but did the girl used the name Mary Jane in everyday's life?

""The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ," the judge said."

I smell a lawsuit. First asmendment basis, rrspecting the establishment of a specifi religion. I could try the fucking case myself and pick up a few million.

And by the way it was a title earned by all the king of israel and recently an italian former prime miniser tried to proclaiming himself as such.
At least she didn't decided to use the original meaning of the word messiah and call the baby "Oily".

And,if this newscast can be believed, the Social Security Administration state Messiah was the fourth most popular name in 2012.
WTF,really ?

Not sure about the U.S., but apparently this is legal in a number of countries.

"...At least a dozen countries around the world have baby naming laws in place to prevent parents from ruining their children's lives when they're only a few seconds old. 'Preposterous!' I hear many of you scream indignantly. 'What right does the government have to regulate how I name my child?'

The sad truth is that some parents have given the powers that be no other choice but to meddle. The NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages has had to refuse names such as Jesus Christ, Ned Kelly, Chief Maximus, Post Master General, the number seven, a blank space, and some poor child's Medicare number..."

parenting.kidspot.com.au/banned-baby-names-what-were-they-thinking/#.Ugl01mFSQrc

and

"...According to the registrar, a name may be rejected if it is thought to 'cause offense to a reasonable person', is 'unreasonably long' or 'resembles an official title or rank'..."

"Messiah was No. 4 among the fastest-rising baby names in 2012, according to the Social Security Administration's annual list of popular baby names."

4th fastest rising, not 4th most popular.

Can anyone here fucking read?

It's in the link of my OP.
How else to you think I copy/pasted it? You can't copy/paste text from a video. All that means is you didn't bother to read.

Lol,okay I'm done multitasking...apparently while watching the Yankees, listening to the newscast and reading the accompanying text I mis-read the line about the SSA,than further screwed up by ascribing (in my own muddled head) the information as coming from the newscast.
Generally I screwed up in every aspect and owe Hillman an apology(though his "Can anyone here fucking read ?" was over the top)

Accepted mike. It's just the 5th time today that someone has misread a post. In some cases they screwed up something as short as 3 words.

No ,thats not what it means.
If I hadn't read it,how else could I fuck it up ?
I misinterpreted what I read in a silly dyslexic sort of way....but if you need to keep carrying on about it,by all means continue...means fuck all to me.

Mexicans name their kids Jesus all the time. Arabs do the same with Mohammed.

Did anyone else catch this weirdness? "The judge in eastern Tennessee said the baby was to be named Martin DeShawn McCullough, which includes both parents' last name.

The boy's mother, Jaleesa Martin, of Newport..."

Sounds like the judge didn't manage to get the mother's last name correct.
