FR

Found a watchable version of the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v8--9R0I2Q.

A few things caught my attention:

(a) It began with an ad for a book that promised to expose "how the media stole the 2012 election." The volume was described as a must-read for all true conservatives. It didn't say whether the book came with a roll of tin foil.

(b) The signatures were gathered under false pretenses.

(c) The one time in the whole clip (3:19) when the dude actually explained what he meant by fourth-trimester abortion, the student declined to sign.

(d) Despite the narrator's lament about an empty campus, there was no shortage of passers-by.

(e) The clip was edited so that various signers appeared more than once. That makes me wonder what was cut from those encounters.

The "petition" was conducted by the Media Research Center, which is a conservative organization dedicated to proving that all media is in the pocket of the left. So.... yeah.

Really? Dedicated to proving that Fox and Limbaugh are in the pocket of the left too? And here I thought they were just trying to show that some people are stupid. Sadly enough, it appears that some are worse than stupid.

Petition to grant Obama immunity

This is not much different than when they went out to the "Man on the street" interviews before the 2008 elections and asked ;

if a President made it so they could hold people indefinitely

had a kill list

tapped all phones and emails..........

All kinds of shit that "Obama" already did and asked "What if he did it" and perople didn't know that he already had. (quotes due to the fact that he did not and could not have done it alone, bear that in mind at the booth)

If I could hate, Howeird Stern would be the object of all my "crinibally violent" fantasies, but he did do a few cool things with the old Man on the street interview thing. He had people saying the sun reloved around the Earth (the agree with Ptolemy I guess" and all kinds of other shit that people should have known (better) by about third grade.

You know 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions.

At some forum somewhere (...) a Parent relayed a story about their kid, a teenager going to a normal school, who was watching TV when they mentioned the equator. The kid asked said Parent what the equator was. The Parent was shocked that at this age the kid had no clue as to what it was and went to the school and asked the science teacher and found that the teacher also did not know what the equator is.

Then to the adminstrative level, the principal I suppose, said that the school board had decided that this particular little fact was discarded as not worth teaching.

It came out that now, teachers are not required to know the subjects they teach, just go by the book. That's right, to be a science treacher you need not now science. I'd like to see how that works out with algebra. Oh wait, maybe I have, given the piss poor academic scores of US students compared with other countries.

I thiink things are actually improving but it's a damn shame the country that put a Man on the moon has to catch up to countries that didn't.

Ironically, I would actually sign the petition and I know what it means, if for no other reason but to be a smartass.

With as many tin foil hat wearers as we have posting to these threads, we all know that intelligence is lacking no matter what political affiliation.

My elderly Mac couldn't play the clip, so I'm not sure exactly what went on.

Did a handful of students simply not grasp the meaning of "trimester," or were they knowingly petitioning for infanticide?

If I had to guess, I would say some may have just heard that it was a petition against "anti-abortionists" and that was enough to sign it. At least I would hope they didn't understand it.

So because people understand the world would be a better place if some fucking morons were aborted after the fact.... they are stupid?

No, because some people are too stupid to understand that what they are petitioning for is the killing of innocent babies. They are so fucking eager to jump on the "pro-choice" bandwagon that they don't listen to the actual message. And if they do understand, I wouldn't call them stupid. Heartless bastards maybe, but not stupid.

Well if that was the point, they missed it with me. The only thing I took from it is you can get kids to sign shit without them knowing what it really is. As to the last part, I would say Fox proves that it isn't all in the left pocket, but I wouldn't want facts to get in the way of a good story for them.

crazyml -> RE: Petition to Allow 4th Trimester Abortions (7/27/2013 6:07:57 AM)

I think that there is a good case to be made for abortions up until the child makes its first mortgage payment.

Until then, the little fuckers start paying for shit they're just a bunch of parasitic cells.

metamorfosis -> RE: Petition to Allow 4th Trimester Abortions (7/28/2013 1:35:16 AM)

I want to see them petition to abort fetuses before conception.

Alright, yeah, that was hyperbole. They're dedicated to proving that all non-Fox news broadcasting, various non-news TV shows, some sports broadcasting, various newspapers, etc all have a liberal agenda.

Heh. Okay, fair enough. But I don't see how that's what they're doing here. What they're doing here, as it seems to me, is showing that for some people the mere mention of abortion triggers such a blind and thoughtless knee-jerk response that reasoned discussion isn't even possible. The petition is, of course, a set-up designed to expose that kind of response among pro-choice subjects, and only pro-choice subjects. But while that may seem unfair, the pro-choice side is the only one that claims to be rational. The anti-abortion side makes no pretense of rationality.

If these groups really believe that its her body and she has the right to do whatever she wants with it, why do they scream "foul" if she "rents" her body for an hour or two? Its HER body right? And the "renter" is exercising his or her free will. He wants to use it, she wants to rent it. Why don't these hypocrite womens' group also champion all her "rights" of her body?

kalikshama -> RE: Petition to Allow 4th Trimester Abortions (7/29/2013 2:08:48 PM)

Which women's rights groups are those?

For the record, I believe prostitution should be legal and regulated, and abortion safe, legal, and rare.

Not even that far. Why are these same groups not going haywire over Bloomberg's soda thing, breastfeeding thing, smoking indoors bans, raw milk bans, forbidding school kids to sell candy bans, salt bans, trans fat bans, the war on lemonade stands, the fines for people growing food gardens on their property, TSA groping, et cetera. Where are the screams of "My body, my choice," with these things?
