Sounds like the Throne Sniffers are getting nervous.

Strike one: Benghazi

Strike two: The IRS

I think you need to channel the spirit of Monica Lewinski to galvanize the GOP. Even with the impeachment, you whiffed there. The blow back, though, probably handed GWB the White House. How did that work out?

TheHeretic -> RE: IRS Scandal Reaches Whitehouse (7/23/2013 9:08:52 PM)

Strike 3 - Abuse of the DOJ

What's struck out? Liberal credibility the next time ya'll want to whine about how all these powers get used by a future occupant of the White House with the "wrong" letter by his name.

Gobama! Yay team!

Oh, and Clouds, what handed GWB the White House was the nomination of Gore.

Again, refresh, my memory... Benghazi was the scandal where the Republicans were caught leaking emails that it turned out they doctored?
The IRS scandal is where right wing PACs tried and succeeded in getting 501 status?
UmbrellaGate was where the President did exactly what all the presidents before him were photographed doing... standing under an umbrella held by someone else?

And people seriously think this is anything other than smoke and mirrors to fool the gullible into thinking there are 2 diametrically opposed parties, instead of one party using 2 aliases to fleece you?

There's no scandal, here. There's no scandal in Benghazi. There's no scandal with the NSA just doin' their thing.

The fact is those are not scandals.

All this whining because some groups had to wait a little longer for a tax status everyone knows they shouldn't have gotten in the first place and that the groups only sought for a reason that offends most people.

Benghazi was a tragedy and no matter how hard the GOP tries there has never been the slightest hint of any of the crazy theories put forward are even remotely true.

The NSA is doing what the PATRIOT act and other Bush era laws and policies tell it to do. I'm sure there are far more leftists upset over this now than there were right wingers upset back when it came out that Bush's NSA and other intelligence agencies weren't even getting warrants from the secret court.

And finally most Americans remember the 90's. They remember years and years of the GOP digging around in a failed subdivision project and in the President's sex life and finding absolutely nothing but wasting a whole lot of taxpayer money. They remember the blatant hypocrisy of all that and they see it again here.

The more engaged remember various right wingers pushing the insane idea that the President murdered an old friend because the man committed suicide. Now they see various right wing lunatics pretending to be finding yet another "smoking gun" that proves the President is not eligible to be President.

They also remember the W years and how these same Republicans didn't give a shit about rising deficits and the various malfeasances of an administration that spat upon the very bedrocks of our nation.

How about the right wing drop the nonsense and get moving on the actual governing that we send them to Washington to do. Maybe instead of a 40th vote to repeal the ACA they could propose some actual improvements to the law. Or maybe they could produce a budget that is a compromise that could actually pass the Senate and get the President's signature instead of producing a purely ideological document that won't ever become law.

Do you really think that the number of IRS visits to the whitehouse is going away? Thats not the opinion of most unbiased people.

The government officers visit other government officers? Jesus H Fuckin Christ on a stick? Have we alerted the media? Is there some law that can be written or a case we can take to the Supreme court?

Conventional wisdom is the latest informations have been bombshells - and the democrats know it. So you keep peddling your discredited idea - being the best you have - its a losing idea politically. I'd much prefer you to keep to it as opposed to generate another narrative.

The nutsuckers blogs are neither conventional wisdom nor are they anything less than imbecilic. They are nutsuckers after all.

Of course, the dims have tried what 6 narratives so far. Each shown to be wrong. You've pushed every single one of them. Read the talking point memos, do you?

Apparently not as fast as you read the nutsucker marching orders and felch them throughout the forums.

Going away? To where?

It's true that number of visits that people from the IRS have made to the Executive Office building and sometimes to the actual White House to visit members of the administration involved in implementing the ACA has been very high. This is because the IRS is deeply involved in implementing the ACA, and so people from the IRS need to have a lot of meetings with people from the administration to work out how everything is going to work with that.

How in the world "working out the details of how a major piece of legislation is going to be implemented" is some kind of conspiracy or scandal is beyond me.

TheHeretic -> RE: IRS Scandal Reaches Whitehouse (7/24/2013 11:00:11 PM)

So if we accept that Grace, then that law must be a real disaster, because they are still having to push back implementation.

On the up side, it does always make me smile when Obamabots default to the, "they aren't abusing their power, they are just totally incompetent," defense.

DaddySatyr -> RE: IRS Scandal Reaches Whitehouse (7/24/2013 11:31:44 PM)

Yeah, Rich, it's almost as funny as when they pronounce (as if they know) that Americans don't care about the government abusing their power; almost as if to say: "We're not abusing our power but, even if we are, Americans don't care if we are".

So, that begs the question: "If Americans don't care, why are you denying it?"

The ruling class lives in a different United States than we do.

Like you and I have both alluded to, it's going to be pretty comical, watching the PPLs doing a "John Kerry" ("I was for it, before I was against it") when the next "R" president has these same powers at their disposal.

what you just said is SOOOO FUNNY, I have a friend who is an absolute OBAMA FAN
this is his reply to me talking about all the "scandels"

and the American people replied and said zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

but if you ask him about VOTER ID, which the supreme court has already ruled is fine to do, and is in effect in about 30 states, he'll go ON AN ON AN ON about how OUTRAGED the ENTIRE COUNTRY IS!!

funny how they impeached nixon for doing what this admin has done with the IRS, and NO ONE CARES, but when a state does what more than 1/2 of the other states are ALREADY DOING (voter ID) with no problems whatsoever, welll its a BIG DEAL!

HAHAHAHAHAH

Not to put too fine a point on it but Nixon was never impeached. He resigned and the special prosecutor said that he's not sure he could have gotten a conviction, even if he could have gotten an indictment.

... unlike the Commander-In-Heat who absolutely was impeached (though never convicted).

What's REALLY going to be funny is when I have to adapt to the new police state, and they find out I'm the one in charge of work assignments in their "re-education center."

Nixon resigned because he was going to be impeached and convicted. That had nothing to do with the special prosecutor.

After the release of the tape, the "smoking gun" tape, that proved he knew of the break in right after it happened and that he then plotted with his team to thwart the investigation the Republican leadership in Congress told him he was certain to be impeached and no more than 15 Senators still supported him (He needed 34 votes to not be convicted). So he resigned rather than fight against the inevitable.

Nixon tried to use the IRS to investigate Nixon's enemies list and prosecute them for tax issues.
Now the IRS has made a few organizations, that were at the very least very nearly not eligible for a particular tax status, wait a little longer for their approval and in some cases submit some extra paper work.
How precisely are these the same?

Voter ID that accepts a wide range of ID is fine. Voter ID that accepts almost no forms of ID and in which the state involved is careful to make getting those forms of ID harder for the people the GOP doesn't want voting is not ok.

DaddySatyr -> RE: IRS Scandal Reaches Whitehouse (7/25/2013 4:53:43 AM)

I thought voter ID laws, these days were just aimed at keeping non-citizens and dead people from voting.

That's right. The left insists that "undocumented" aliens have a right to vote (More people to vote themselves free shit that they'll never have to pay for)?

Wrong. We just want all eligible citizens to have the ability.

For instance under the new Texas law a list of ID that is acceptable includes driver's licenses and a state ID issued only at the same locations as the DL, CCW permits, military ID and passports. But not college ID's or a lot of other photo ID's, or even expired DL's and ID's, despite the fact that Texas already requires proof of citizenship at the time a person registers to vote.

A big problem in Texas is the state doesn't have a DL facility in every county and there are several areas where it is more than 100 miles to such a facility which puts a significant burden on the poor and elderly if they want to be able to vote.

Moonhead -> RE: IRS Scandal Reaches Whitehouse (7/25/2013 6:22:32 AM)

Well, if you boys on the right have such a problem with the Kenyan and feel that his current conduct is scandalous, crooked and inappropriate, you shouldn't have spent his first term in office inventing "scandals" that nobody who wasn't dropped on their head as a baby could ever take seriously, should you? Your credibility re the Kenyan's lack of credibility went out of the window as soon as all of that Birther shite got going.
Maybe if you'd laid off the hysterical tantrums over trivia and fantasies, people might be giving you lads the benefit of the doubt now, rather than ignoring you as you've spent the last five or six years crying "wolf" so zealously you now sound like Donald Duck.
Nice one!

No, no you got that wrong. Now OBama has used the IRS to investigate at least 3 political enemies (republicans).
Now Obama has used the IRS to delay the formation of more than 72 tea party organizations past an election. How is that different than Nixon. Gee, wally, I guess its not!

the rest of your characterization - (not eligible, 'some extra paperwork') is just offensive buffoonery.

I have no problem with setting up lots of DL offices. Even better would be just letting people get voting cards at a variety of state buildings. As long as citizenship is proved. I really don't think you will find much opposition to that, Dom Ken.

I would also like to get rid of early voting as it makes fraud possible. I would be fine with doubling or tripling the number of voting stations. I would be fine with putting a system in place where if lines were more than 2 hours long, the person in charge of elections in each county loses his job. I don't want any one to be disenfranchised - and that means disenfranchised by way of fraud as well.

I want everyone to vote.
Once.
