Sure thing! I thought you'd never ask ...

I was as clueless as they come when it came to sports in my early years (I eventually became good at basketball and track, though much later), so of course I wound up starting in little league at age seven, had no business being there, and still hadn't figured out much by age ten.

I ended a practice once when I got my mouth seriously bloodied and two teeth knocked completely loose by a line drive when playing shortstop, likely because I had no business playing any infield position at all, much less shortstop.

Badass!

There, I hope that I have explained well enough what badasses we yanks are, and played well enough to your complete incomprehension of what the OP was about.

I played rounders in primary school.
Nobody got sued as far as I remember.

Well, first it is the parents making this claim, and considering the speed of a line drive, a hit to the head could conceivably do some serious damage.

In High School, I saw a pitcher take a line drive to the head, it fractured his skull and put him in ICU.

I dont think anyone from any country, including the UK that could handle a baseball traveling at 90 plus miles per hour hitting him in the head.

I also said there is a liability waiver that most little league organizations have parents sign, and locally, the little league sponsors actually get a insurance company set up a group plan that lasts the duration of the season, covers medical, and possible disability, even has a life insurance rider in case a player is actually killed in a game, which has never happened.

FR:

I'm so old that when I was growing up girls weren't *allowed* to play Little League.

I was in a 'pony-tail' softball league. I played first, short=stop, and catcher. I mostly played ss, though I lived being the catcher.

Yeah, kids got hurt and parents didn't sue.

I see those kids who have been so carefully coddled at the university near me in their first year. They don't know how to tie their shoes on their own. which is why I was asked to teach a freshmen life skills class.

LOL....I have friends who are university instructors, and you wouldn't believe how many Mommies and Daddies call to beg junior not to get a bad grade or rant because "how dare you expect my baby to attend class."

I can't wait till these helicopter-coddled-get a trophy for showing up kids are running the country.
