njlauren -> RE: How many have played little league baseball? (7/18/2013 8:13:59 PM)

Not surprised at all and it is frankly a stupid suit, and if judges had any balls they would hit the lawyer bringing the suit with a 10k fine for a frivolous lawsuit, the fucking lawyers have absolutely no sense of morals, all they care about here is 60% of the take. Playing sports has certain risks, and where is the negligence here? I could see if some coach had the kids running laps in 100 degree heat or had kids hatting without batting helmets, but this kind of thing happens.A kid ended up with brain damage when a batted ball hit him in the chest and forced him into cardiac arrest and took time to be revived. There has been a lot of hot air about using aluminum bats because they allow hitting the ball harder then a wooden bat does, especially with kids, but the point is few things don't have some risks. The same people who will see nothing wrong with this will be the same one whining if Little League has to raise fees to cover the insurance, or worse, has to disband. I have heard lots of people sneer about the nanny society, about how they won't let kids play, but these are the same jackwagons who will sure at the drop of a hat. It is kind of ironic that this lawsuit is from Texas, where people often seem to pride themselves on being exactly the opposite of this......
