Please. PLEASE. It is even possible to say that all media is mainstream media. Why ? Because none will ever again engage in what used to be called...investigative reporting at least as it applies to political power.

For example. some will tell you the mainstream media is complicit in promulgating certain lies. The unemployment rate is twice what is reported...for obvious political reasons. The CPI is twice what is reported for govt. money-saving and monetary propaganda reasons.

I have actually come to cheer today's opposition to this admin. as much as I did the last. Why ? Because no matter who is elected from now on, there will be no change unless that change is...things (unemployment, inflation, govt. cuts here, increases elsewhere) getting even worse. These aspects of society can and will get worse and yet will not be reported and the public will only offer pip squeaks.

Call me an optimist but I like to think that some day, the revolving door of professional political idiots will be stopped and I think it will be stopped by someone in the fourth estate.

To be sure, they'll need some sort of military support; even if it's only vocal but I think some day, some reporter will "nail" a story, dot all their "I"s and cross all their "T"s and people will wake up and smell what Big Brother's been cooking.

I hope you are right and for the young as I won't be around but...I am not as hopeful as you are. The idea of the military supporting some truth teller, if that is what you are getting at, for me...is a bit of a very optomistic stretch.

I think what is generally referred to as the MSM, are the television news outlets (including their websites); MSNBC, CNN, Fox News Channel, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc. Some may also include newspapers, too. I think "mainstream" has to do with where the majority prefer to get their "news." While that has changed greatly since the 90's (internet), there are still many news outlets that operate both as MSM (as defined in this post) and as an "alternative" source of news.

With so many options available, I think the MSM category is more a reference to the former traditional news sources, rather than simply the largest or the most popular.

I think you are correct DS. Any so-called MSM, is I think...a thing of the past. Maybe that's a good thing but yet the effects of which...remain to be seen.

I don't see where that would help anyone other than democratic shit-eaters (they need something to wash the shit down with) but, more to the point; to say that one news outlet is biased and think that others aren't is naiveté in the extreme.

While they all put on a good show, the truth is they won't dare go so far as to piss off their masters and, let's face it; it's not in their best interest to do so.

Funny how PPLs have a problem with "big business" but froth at the mouth with every little tidbit they can regurgitate from (P)MSNBC and CNN. I think I remember seeing those corporations filing for bankruptcy somewhere ... Maybe not.

Hypocrisy, I have named you and your name is: "Democratic National Party and your PPL followers".

Nah. There's no worry. You chose to "attack" first; something about my being "that far gone" or something? Stowe your passive-aggressive attacks and let's stay on point.

I'll repeat: The point of my last post was hypocrisy/duality of PPLs that have their heads so far up their ass that they believe FOX is slanted but CNN and their ilk are reasonable and neutral.

MSM, to me, means generally recognized media sources... radio, television, newspapers and magazines.

I personally do not think of any such source as credible. If I want to see something even remotely credible I watch foreign news. Oft-times between local news here (the small stations do pretty good actually) and BBC I can get enough of a sense of things to feel roughly where the truth lies.
