Another detail from the Tampa Bay Times data on SYG:

Where the victim was killed, the dispostion of the cases broken down by race of the accused shows the following...

Black accused - 11 convicted, 24 justified, 9 pending
White accused - 25 convicted, 40 justified, 11 pending

Source

K.

Something about that article has been bugging me.... now I realize what it is.

Take a look at the list TampaBay gave....

Did Zimmerman use SYG or not?

If not, as so many insist, why is he on that list? And how many others are erroneously on that list?

I have seen nothing to indicate the SYG was used in the zimmy case. I have also seen nothing to indicate that the media and some individuals will let facts stand in the way of a good rant.

Do you bother to look at links? Because, if you had, you would see the link in question was about SYG cases in Florida.... which is what we were discussing... which is what you should have realized had you bothered to read the link.

A groundskeeper at a zoo one day sees a lion that he thinks is acting strangely. Instead of waiting for the people in charge of the lions to get there, he decides to investigate it himself…telling himself that he is doing it so that he can better report on what the lion is doing (or at least that is what he later says). So he enters the cage and starts to follow the lion. The lion runs to get away, and the groundskeeper runs after the lion. Feeling threatened, the lion confronts the groundskeeper. Now the grounds keeper feels threatened and pulls a gun and shoots the lion.

That's a pretty good analogy; but in the instant case the paranoid whites of the right wing see Trayvon Martin as way more dangerous than a lion, and I think that's where the analogy fails for them. Instead of lion, maybe a blood sucking, human-hating alien might better represent the terror, fear for his live, and lack of other non violent options that Z faced.

Still trying to make this into a political fight. Not that I am surprised. It seem like that is all you have to offer. What a waste. [8|]

Yes I saw the links and yes they claimed that SYG was used with zimmy. I also saw where you said

"Did Zimmerman use SYG or not?

If not, as so many insist, why is he on that list? And how many others are erroneously on that list?"

to which I said I didn't think he had and agreed with you that claiming he did might be an error. I also went on to add that I didn't think they really cared about facts.

Maybe if you were not so quick to jump on a person just because you don't like them, you might realize they are actually agreeing with you.

FR

Well well well... lookie what we have here

The victim was not black.

My computer wouldn't go the thread.

Here is a clip from it....the bolded part could have been taken from the zimmy case.

"Not guilty: The verdict in the manslaughter trial of Roderick Scott. After more than 19 hours of deliberations over two days, a jury acquitted the Greece man in the shooting death of Christopher Cervini, 17, last April.
"I just want to say thank you to the people who believed in me, who stood by me,” Scott said following the verdict. “I still have my regrets for the Cervini family; it's still an unfortunate situation for them. I am happy that at least this chapter is over."

As deliberations dragged on over two days and the jury asked for testimony to be read back, Scott admits he didn't know how it would all turn out.

"I was nervous of course,” he said. “You never know what direction this whole thing is going to turn, so I have no idea. But it worked out and I feel that justice (was) served today."

Cervini's family members say justice wasn't served. They say Christopher was murdered in cold blood, that he'd never been in trouble and Scott acted as judge, jury and executioner.

"The message is that we can all go out and get guns and feel anybody that we feel is threatening us and lie about the fact,” said Jim Cervini, Christopher’s father. “My son never threatened anybody. He was a gentle child, his nature was gentle, he was a good person and he was never, ever arrested for anything, and has never been in trouble. He was 16 years and four months old, and he was slaughtered."

Same type of victim blaming? Maybe... but certainly not the same degree.
Society may be slowly and grudgingly accepting the notion that a woman dressed up as though for sex, isn't necessarily looking for sex (Thank you Pink)

But a man 'stepping out' of a vehicle still carries a much stronger connotation of a challenge to fight.

It occurs to me that the people who are trying to lay the blame on Zimmerman for getting out of his car are engaging in the same type of victim blaming as those who try to blame a woman for her sexual assault because she was dressed provocatively.

It occurs to me that this comparison tells us more about you than about anything else.

Especially when he then proceeds to follow the kid.

According to Z, the lone eye witness.

He attacked Zimmerman supported by the evidence and Zimmerman was armed .
You seem to forget that the closest thing to an eye witness saw Martin beating him BEFORE being shot.

That's funny, since no evidence of that had been entered, and every time the Defense tried to suggest it, the Judge sustained the objection.

Again, the only thing that matters is one simple thing:

IF George Zimmerman had offered his neighbor a ride home out of the rain that night, none of this would have happened.

What is this with you and offering teenage boys rides home at night? Are you trying to tell us something? You keep bringing this up and it perplexes me to no end. Yet, if I recall correctly, you yourself don't own a car. The last thing I want to do is to have a total stranger (and yes, for all intents and purposes TM WAS a total stranger) in my vehicle, especially at night. And I'm not only armed, I'm no stranger to rough-and-tumble action.

Hell, I won't even pull over for a hot chick on the side of the road anymore, both for the potential liability issues if she turns out to be a minor or if she's simply acting as bait for her psycho carjacker boyfriend hiding in the bushes. Call me paranoid, I call it exercising caution and good judgement. And I'm not alone. Go pose that question to any law enforcement officer and see what they say about it.

Seconded. Just as long as we don't have to talk politics afterward.

DaddySatyr -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (7/22/2013 9:19:36 AM)

Since this is an unmoderated thread and there's some discussion about my avatar, let me clear up a couple of things.

My previous avatar (which was not explicit and did not violate TOS) was removed after a bunch of cry-baby pussies went running to the administration here, complaining that my avatar was offensive.

So, a new, un-written rule was made up to appease the little bitches.

Now, I am unable to change my avatar and you get the primary photo from my profile. Since the photo is not explicit and does not violate TOS, this is what you get.

You don't like it? Stop targetting people to be singled out.

Had one of the little cry-babies come to me in a rational manner, I may have been willing to change my avatar for them. I may not have but I may have. I guess we'll never know, now.

Anyway, I am unable to change my avatar, here and unwilling to change my primary profile photo (which, I repeat; is NOT explicit and does NOT violate TOS).

Feeling the love,

George Zimmerman

I thought your avatar before was of your face. I don't know how someone can bitch about you being an ugly motherfucker, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What was wrong with it according to the administration, and what was it if it wasnt your face?

United States v. Lanza, 260 U.S. 377 (1922).

I defer, of course, to the Supreme Court on the letter of the law.

In terms of its spirit, though, the sudden "discovery" that Zimmerman may have violated federal civil rights law honestly does strike me as an instance of "If at first you don't convict, try, try again" (to borrow from Robert Matz).

Kinda like the civil prosecution of oj.

You miss the point OJ was sued by the Goldman family, not a government agency.

What is your point?
Had you taken the time to do a little research you would find that this has happened many times with bigots like you. I am not the least bit sorry that your asshole is sore because you cannot get your way.
Should your little butt bitch get convicted {if there is a trial}this time will you say that a jury of his peers did their duty?
