I'm not ashamed to say that I would look for ways to avoid any of this just as I look for ways to avoid paying other forms of tax to the government.

And everyone, of course, is entitled to make their own decisions about their own honor (and I mean that seriously). But since you mentioned above that "everyone lies" I feel compelled to mention that to my knowledge i have not ever bent the truth on a government form. When i have my taxes done I quite specifically instruct the accountant to NOT seek to play games with the rules. Out & out lying is utterly out of the question. I instruct my accountant to calculate y taxes based on the intent of the rule as he understands it even if that results in me paying more taxes.

It's one of those citizenship things.

When I became dissatisfied with what they did with my money rather than playing games with it, I moved.

I don't recall saying "everyone lies" but most people will do whatever they can to hold on to every penny they sweat for. And if you want to pay more taxes than you have to in order to fulfill your sense of honor that's up to you. I don't feel any less honorable simply because I take advantage of everything the law allows me to. In the end, they still get my money. I just make sure they only get what they're entitled to.

I don't feel any different about the ACA. If I don't have to contribute, I'm not going to. I'd much rather just be responsible for myself.

It's one of those "freedom" things. I already do the things a citizen is required to do and more.

You are more than welcome to get your own insurance to cover your own needs. Nothing in the ACA says you cant.
