I'll add to the pot.

You are soooooo NOT writing my eulogy! [8|]

Focus.

Well. Crap. I was going to write it in Latin, and have a choir of dyslexic physicists sing the chorus.

Goddamnit, this ruins my plans for that weekend!

I will jerk off to feel better, but it will be angry jerking.

Enslavement Rate = Years in the scene / Number of collars given out (higher number is better)

Personally, I don't know why you think giving out more collar is inherently a good thing.

I was wondering the same thing.Personally if I knew a dom has given out a lot of collars the first things that would come to my mind is 1. They don't mean anything to him and it's all role play for him or 2. He's extremely bad at relationships....neither of which I find attractive.

At a bare minimum one has to wonder at his routine failure to maintain control.

I read this differently. What I read was that it was better to have a higher number as a result of dividing years in the scene by collars given. More collars makes the bottom of the fraction larger; a fraction with a larger number on the bottom is smaller as a whole number.

Keeping it easy: let's go with a top number of 12, then a bottom number of 3, 4, and 6.

12/3 is 4. 12/4 is 3. 12/6 is 2. As you can see, the higher that bottom number is, the smaller the whole number as a result.

Does that make more sense, maybe? (Mathematically speaking, that is, I'm not drinking the koolaid on whether the amount of collars given out says anything, about anyone.)

This thread reminds me of the position of some that relationships ending is normal and not to be expected to last in the first place.

Of course, I have seldom see people hold that position by people that have had relationships that have lasted past a couple presidents terms of office.

Again, this was a lighthearted take on this issue but you would have a rather astronomically high score, wouldn't you?

KnightofMists -> RE: D/s Quality Ratio (6/9/2013 9:14:51 AM)

Well. There is always someone that fucks up the bell curve ;)

DesFIP -> RE: D/s Quality Ratio (6/9/2013 9:58:01 AM)

Actually all relationships end. Unless you're a vampire, yours will too. It is normal which is not the same as desirable to find yourself alone at some point.

Sure they do... two of them have for me... both of which I classify as failures. My reasoning here is pretty well grounded in reality. I had a set of expectations which were not met. Ergo, the marriages failed to meet my expectations and I declare them a failure.

littlewonder -> RE: D/s Quality Ratio (6/9/2013 2:43:09 PM)

meh. I'm one who feels death does not end a relationship but I know I'm in a minority.

Well that really depends o. Your view of death now doesn't it

I have had one failed relationship myself. Never should of started that one in the first place. We were ill matched from the get go but both to stupid to see the writing on the wall.

So right now batting 3 for 4. With 32 years of relationship experience.... I think I am do pretty damn good.

fast reply

That a relationship ends before death doesn't make it a failure.

Well sure and the hell doesn't make it a success in my view

DesFIP -> RE: D/s Quality Ratio (6/10/2013 4:51:30 PM)

Depends how you view it. If you learned things from it, both parted as friends, having agreed that you aren't compatible for the long term, or have grown apart, then it's been a success.

Obviously this is more applicable to someone young, still learning who they are.

No. That is learning... Not success. The learning that moves you towards having a successful relationship. But learning itself is not success. Unless that is indeed The goal in the first place. But my experience is that Learning is not the goal of a relationship. It is sometimes a result of relationships but not the goal. Seems to me for the most part.. The goal for people in a relationship is a happiness and sense of belonging or connecting with another.

Of course everyone's goal for a relationship is different to some degree or another. Is the relationship successful? Then answer was the goal that you had entering the relationship achieved! If it was... Then guess you succeed! If not... Well. Hopefully you learned something of yourself that can be applied to be successful in a future relationship.
