Hi everyone.  Subbie here.  Thought I'd introduce myself and hopefully meet some new people.  I'm not brand new to the site... I signed up over 6 months ago I think.  But I was in a relationship at the time and so I didn't really spend much time with the site.  Now I'm back and finally introducing myself.  Hopefully I'll have some things to contribute and will be accepted as one of the community.  =)

Okay, about me.  I'm a 35 year old mother of a 17 year old son.  I can't believe he's almost grown!  I don't work as I'm disabled with Fibromyalgia and other related issues.  I won't bore the group with the details of all that.  I do enjoy hand-crafting jewelry, a hobby I started a few years ago with beads and thread... but have since moved on to wire-wrapping,  I work almost exclusively now with Sterling Silver wire and Swarovski crystals.

I tried to get a website going for my jewelry but that didn't work out (it was my best friend creating the site... but she has 3 children and is going though MAJOR health issues right now so she couldn't continue work on it.).  I do have my own domain name registered at the moment (though that expires in a couple months) but no where to host the site.  Tried selling some of my work on eBay.. and it did sell.. but for only the cost of materials... no labor or overhead.  If anybody's interested in seeing some of my work, please feel free to ask.  I'd be happy to share.  =)

What else, hrm?  OH, I'm an avid gamer.  I love role-playing games mostly.  It started when I was in college and was introduced to a book series called Dragonlance.  So my friend introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons.  Loved it!  So we started playing role-playing games on gaming systems like Super Nintendo.  (that was the big system at that time *giggle*)  Then when I got into the internet, I got into text-based role-playing games called MUDs.  That was fun.  But now I'm into what they call MMORPG's.  (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games).  I tried Everquest.  And it was fun for a while, I mostly enjoyed trade-skilling.  Then I tried World of Warcraft.  AWESOME game.  Later my son wanted to try Final Fantasy XI.  He enjoyed it, but I missed my World of Warcraft... so now I'm back to playing that.  =)

I love books, though I haven't read in years... I got out of the "habit" of it and can't seem to get back into it.  But I mostly read fantasy novels.  Dragonlance series, Sword of Truth series (Terry Goodkind books - Wizard's First Rule, etc. Haven't read the last few yet), Wheel of Time series (haven't read the last few yet), and others which seem to escape me now.  I also enjoy John Grisham's books which I can't seem to convince my son to try.  He's all about the fantasy genre.

But my favorite book of all time is "Mists of Avalon".  It's a retelling of the King Arthur story through the eyes of the women in the tale (Morgaine, Guinevere, Morgause, Viviane, etc).  A lot of historical research was done by the author so that the story is as true to history as possible.  I won't go all into my feelings on the book, but it's a very good read... though an intellectual one, not just a casual read.  But I will say that one of the reasons I enjoy the book because it doesn't "demonize" paganism like many King Arthur tales do.  Everything is told through the perspective of the speaker.  It's really well done.  =)

I also love nature.  Snow, the sky, trees, grass, animals, the moon.  I have 4 kitties (though because of financial matters, I'm probably going to have to find homes for at least 3 of them) but I'm not exclusively a cat person.  I love dogs, birds, fish, rabbits, ferrets, ducks, snakes, lizards, frogs, deer... just about any animal you can think of.  But no spiders!  I'm a bit arachnophobic.  *shudder*

Oh, and I enjoy some things from TV.  I don't have cable anymore so I can't watch most of the things I enjoyed, but I can always get clips from the 'net.  I loved West Wing.  Watched the entire series until the last half of the last season.  I found out they got cancelled and just couldn't watch anymore.    Then there's Buffy and Angel.  My son is more an Angel fan, and I'm more the Buffy fan.  I enjoyed it more when Angel was on the Buffy show WITH Buffy... they were an awesome couple, I thought.  And I love South Park and Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force and crazy shows like that.  I like the Simpsons, too, but I never got to see many episodes.  I love comedy, stand-up mostly, like on Comedy Central Presents.  My favorite comedians are Eddie Izzard, George Carlin, Lewis Black, Dane Cook, Robin Williams, and Stephen Lynch.

I would go into my music and movie likes, but I think this post has gotten WAY longer than I should have let it get.  *giggle*  I hope you all will welcome this subbie into your fold.  =)

*hugs and smiles to all*
