ORIGINAL: Owner59 At least we think for ourselves and have original thoughts.... Really? I've yet to see the garden variety 'liberal' demonstrating anything in the way of 'original thought,' much less any of them thinking for themselves. That's what ideology, any ideology, is for: obviating the need for any thought process whatsoever. 'Liberals' (in the US, anyway) wouldn't know what 'left' is if it bit them in the arse. They have become nothing but a freaking joke. Clinton signed on with Gingrich's legislation to cut off the theretofore educational provision of the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills (JOBS) training program with the (then) new Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, which said: "screw your education, or trying to better yourself and increase your job skills and pay; we need more Molly Maids right now, so get to it!" Treasury Sec. Rubin and his side kick Larry Summers were right alongside Greenspan as they kicked Brooksley Born in the teeth and stomped her to the ground because, as then Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, she dared to raise questions about their full-on attack against any regulation in that market, all of them cheerleading Phil Gramm's Commodity Futures Modernization Act, along with the Financial Institutions Modernization Act, which, together, set the whole financial industry back by 70 years (hence the term 'modernization,' you see). All the bought-and-paid-for relevant Democrats, Frank, Schumer, etc. were all on board. The 2004 elections were supposed to be about rejection of the Iraqi invasion. So, what were we presented with as a 'statement' against that? Kerry, Edwards (oh, please!) Hillary, etc., who all actually voted for the 'resolution' to invade. Wow! Thanks! Viva la 'choice,'! "your vote matters," etc., 'blah blah.' And what happens when someone points out (as I did) the hardship wrought by that financial deregulation vomited in our lap by Republicans and Democrats alike? The blame-the-victim 'liberals' come out of the woodwork, that's what happens, tripping over themselves to see who could more quickly and more loudly spout the media's mantra of "used their house as an ATM," completely oblivious to the FACT that millions of retirees did nothing to precipitate the fiasco, those not even venturing into a re-fi, who were merely sitting in their chairs, watching their home equity and the principal of their life savings melt away as the stock market took a dive, and poor widows and widowers having their house stolen out from under them, due to aggressive mortgage brokers who literally foisted loans on them specifically designed to blow up in 2 years. Thanks to 'financial liberalization,' voted on by both parties. How many responses to my post about the IRA allowing REIT status to almost anybody who has a mega-billion dollar corporation and takes the trouble to own two one-story office buildings, or a couple of three-storefront shopping strips? None. That's not an issue with politicos, even though it costs the country billions, amidst all the putative budget 'concerns' of liberals and conservatives alike. But that IRS/teabagger thing, which has cost the country not a penny ... Yeah! NOW we got sumthin'! Just in case my meaning isn't clear: F*CK! 'liberals,' F*CK! 'conservatives,' screw all the politico imbeciles. The world can't afford your screw-ups , your stupid and infantile ideologies, any and all of them, anymore. BTW, to all you cons: there is nothing, in any proper sense of the word, 'conservative' about reckless destruction of the domestic economy, and personal liberties. And to the politico liberals, I ask you: is all the destruction you voted for OK, as long as we put in some rider to the legislation that we throw some more pennies to the poor, after YOU gave what was theirs to begin with to the banks? "We must take care of the poor, because of others' greed." Whether we chose to take care of the poor or not, their number is increasing due to a broadside of political stupidity, which you are responsible for. Yes, YOU, politico dimwits, all of you. That's the 'liberal' way: "we have no idea how any of this happened, expect that it must be because of greed, or something. We have no clue about the most basic economics, so it completely bypasses us that all the wealth is improperly distributed to begin with, even though we vote regularly for the co-conspirators who accomplish that, because it's just easier to say something totally stupid, like 'redistribute' than to actually trouble ourselves with actual causes, namely, our incessant voting for like-minded fuckwits." However many faults the ideology of the late '60s had (and there were many), at least they knew enough to understand that 'the establishment,' especially the idiotic Democrats and their secular theology, were as much the problem as the 'hawks' and 'ultra-conservatives.' I'll say it again: no current-day democrat or 'liberal' would know what 'left' is, or what it means, if it took a large chunk out of their collective fat ass.
