"Despite the various pathetic attempts by the Republican Party and the stooges in the corporate media to manufacture several fake scandals designed to bring down President Obama, a new CNN/ORC poll found that the president’s approval ratings has actually increased by two points.

The latest CNN/ORC poll reveals that President Obama’s approval rating has gone up by two points from 51% in April to 53% today, while his disapproval rating has fallen by two points from 47% to 45%. While 85% of those polled agree that the IRS targeted of political groups is very or somewhat important issue, by a margin of 61%-37% (37% is the number of self-identified conservatives/Republicans in the country) respondents believed that President Obama’s statements on the matter have been completely mostly true. By a margin of 54%-42% respondents think Republicans are reacting appropriately to the matter, but the vast majority (55%-37%) believe that the IRS acted alone without White House orders."

Bush's support grew with every scandal (real or fake) too. This only proves the public has a "team mentality" and that they support their team, no matter what. And don't forget, Hitler had incredible public support. This "cheer your hero" mentality (no matter which "fake political team" undertakes it) is quite frightening.

I'm still waiting to read where the president has proposed anything that would take away my .22 rifle.
I also want to know why the 2nd Ammendment is the only one where reasonable restrictions are compared to Nazis Germany.
And can someone PLEASE tell me how a background check at a gun show infringes on your right to keep and bare arms?

It can also mean he's your son, a friend, or the kid down the road. People read what they want to read.

Given the rest of his post, I would pretty much say it was meant in a very derogatory manner.

Apparently in the same way that giving a reporter a swipe card for the State Department that tracks every time it is used, is 'intimidation of the press by monitoring them unconstitutionally '...

So, given the margin of error is three points this means your boy could also be down one point.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and simply state that calling a black man 'boy' has a long association with racism.

Careful, Ken. Let's not give the use of a simple colloquialism any more meaning of intent then it really deserves.

Well to be fair the President is looking to keep guns away from the mentally ill. You know like the paranoid schizophrenics who are stockpiling weapons and ammo in their fallout shelters and screaming that the kenyan is trying to take away their guns.

And people with anorexia, gender dysphoria, agoraphobia, post partum depression, OCD, Tourettes, and any of the other hundred conditions that can be shoved into the 'mental illness' tent without a trial.

That one only depends upon what your definition of "is" is.

MasterCaneman -> RE: Obama’s Approval Rating Jumps As Manufactured Scandals Backfire (5/22/2013 8:28:53 AM)

The problem I have with polls and statistics is they can be manipulated to present a desired outcome. Doesn't matter what the issue, if you want a certain result, you tailor the study to reflect what you want the answer to be. Any Poll Can Be Manipulated

And it's not a new phenomenon-when I was in school for my BBA, this was on our assigned reading list. How To Lie With Statistics, and for a pretty good breakdown of how it's done, take a glance at this: Impression Management.

I hated Stats class with a passion, but it did open my eyes a bit as to what was being fed to me by the media. Another problem that I see is that the news organizations have taken the step to move beyond merely reporting the news, but to drive their own personal agendas. And I mean all of them, from FOX to MSNBC, there are no saints in that brood. Taken together, Joe/Jane Six-Pack doesn't have a chance and ends making his decisions based on what some faceless suit wants him/her to choose.

The "scandals" of his first 100 days in office pale in comparison to the problems he faced in 2009.
