FatDomDaddy -> It must be pretty bad when Charlie Rangle holds the high ground (5/15/2013 12:15:04 PM)

“I don’t think anyone truly believes that the president has given us a sufficient answer for America, much less the press,” Rangel said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I think this is just the beginning and the whole idea of comparing this with Nixon, I really think is just, it doesn’t make much sense. But the president has to come forward and share why he did not alert the press they were going to do this. He has to tell the Americans, including me: What was this national security question? You just can’t raise the flag and expect to salute it every time without any reason and the same thing applies to the IRS.”

“In Watergate, Senator Baker said it all, everybody uses this: ‘What did he know and when did he know it?’” Rangel said. “I am confident that the President is angry as hell about this, as he should be. The IRS is no place for partisanship, Democrat or Republican.”

What did Obama know about the IRS thing, and when? I have no solid idea, but I get the feeling that he has known for maybe - MAYBE - a day prior to the IRS apology. That's just the feeling I get.

Now, as for the Justice Dept. wiretapping the AP? He may have known about that before it came out in the press, but I don't get the feeling he had anything to do with that, either. I think that one is on Holder, just like the IRS fuckup doesn't go higher than the IRS and might not even reach the top of the IRS, either.

Charlie Rangle as well as any other congressman or senator holds no ground here.

As stooges, nobody is looking to tell them anything, they are stupid and repeat national secrets into microphones.

What the fuck kind of leader is he if he doesn't know what the hell is subordinates are doing in his name?

Delegating is one thing, but the buck has to stop somewhere.

Yeah, and you would have thought that at Abu Grahib, but it turned out in every case to be just a few rogue privates.

It's impossible for him to know everything that his subordinates are doing in his name. The executive branch is the single largest employer in the country...no way can any one person keep track of that.

With that being said, at a certain point, a leader does have to accept responsibility when inappropriate things are done in his name, even if he had no role in formulating the policy. That may be as simple as firing the people responsible (in the IRS case, I'd certainly be ok with that...in the Justice Department case, I think it needs to be Holder's head that rolls, although I freely admit to thinking that he's a piss-poor example of an AG).

Holder recused himself from the leak investigation so the subpoena was issued by a career investigator inside the DoJ.

Neither the IRS IG investigation nor the leak investigation strikes me as subjects likely to have ever even been known to the White House staff prior to them being in the press. The ODS sufferers are acting like the President has the time to concern himself with the minutia of how the IRS processes non profit applications in Ohio or what is happening with a ongoing criminal investiagtion by the DoJ. The government is simply too large for the President to have been involved in either instance.

Hang in there. Doctors are trying to find a cure for ODS.

Hopefully they find it soon, Obama's getting so bad he's starting to believe his own shit. How will we survive the next 3 years?

When I said I can see Obama knowing just before it came out, I mean, literally, just before it came out. I bet someone said, "Uh, hey, Mr. President. We done fucked up over here and we have admit it." After that I can see Obama staring at his hands mentally fighting the urge to have a smoke as he starts to wonder what kind of shit he's going to be blamed for.

Let me toss in 2 cents worth of suggestion, for your next one, Rob. The President has an excellent throwing arm, when he needs to get somebody else into the path of a truck.

You know he's in trouble when he's lost piers morgan. He might have survived 1 scandal but three in the same time period. Democrats are going to start distancing themselves from him. Because of the AP thing the press isn't going to be so friendly anymore.

Owner59 -> RE: It must be pretty bad when Charlie Rangle holds the high ground (5/15/2013 8:20:46 PM)

We`ve lost Piers Morgan!?!?!!

OH Noooooo! [:D]

So........... are the cons going to say exactly what`s getting bad.............. or do we have to continue to guess?

What the last week has given us is bigger than the sum of the parts. What has been revealed is a widespread pattern of abuses of authority by the Obama administration. The mantle of Nixon is getting draped around his shoulders, and he doesn't have a lot of friends on the Hill willing to stand too close to that stench.

The AP intrusion is going to cost him support in the media, and the stories may not get knocked off the top of the page by Angelina's tits, quite so quickly as they might have without that.

The next question is going to be, just how far does the rot of integrity go, in President Obama's governance of our country.
