I still think it's unconstitutional to even have a sex offenders list. Why single one type of criminal out? I'm much more interested in who in my area has committed murder, burglary, robbery, breaking and entering etc. The police have access to records and the courts take into account past convictions as new ones come up. It's incredulous to me that one gets more for rape than murder these days. Viva feminism!
If someone has been convicted of a crime and did their time that should be the end of it.

I'm probably going to get a lot of ridicule for saying this (I'm used to it on here anyway), but I think sex offender lists should be abolished. When someone is on the list, their entire family is often bullied, harassed, and ostracized. Did the sex offender's parents, siblings, or children commit the crime? With the harassment they're forced to endure, they may as well have. I also think many if not most people have done things in the past (urinating outside, streaking, mooning, making out or having sex in a car, high school teens having sex, etc.) that if caught today, could have landed them on the sex offender list. If truly dangerous (violent offenders, those who stalk daycares and elementary schools), keep them locked up. IMO we don't need lists that hurt more innocent people than they help.

I've long thought the list was a bad idea for a number of reasons. If certain sex offenders are considere a threat for longer than their sentence then the sentence should be legally lengthened.

And of course, as usual, you can't give an honest answer to the question. Did you write the article that was the entire content of the original post? Yes, or no?

If you wrote it, I meant every word I said. It is a work of shit stirring, othering, and bigoted fear mongering.

If you didn't write the article, I still meant every word I said about the current polarizing internet games, and you are trolling to make everything in the universe about you... which game I'll leave you to play all by yourself.

Are you now claiming to be the person who wrote that piece of sensationalized crap that was the sum total of the original post? Or are you pretending that you are one of those quoted in it?

Bullshit.

Nobody is falling for your projection games.

awwww im sorry Power, you know I live to play to your needs[8|]
I made no statement regarding my feelings on it, but just carry on and pretend you know how I feel.
As someone who likes to play outside... I know the stupidity of the laws regarding sex offender specifics.
but yanno, keep it up insisting you know all my positions and why I post.

Are you sure you understand english???

I'm just giving the prize to the original post, even if the OP forgot to put 'Thumbs down if you love child molesters and eating dead babies', for the cherry on top of that shit sundae.

I was the OP...I didnt forget anything, I didnt state, forget, deny, assert or anything else
YOU are the one projecting sweetcakes

I have a few sites I go to to see what kinda crime is in an area, some are for sex offenders but they say specifically what the charge was, such as "AGG SEXUAL ASSAULT CHILD age 13"..

I personally think that crime stat websites are a tool to gauge how much crime there is in the area.. but lets face it, there is no area that is 100% SAFE.. its a matter of risk.. there is one gated community i know of with about 10,000 residents and it has only 4 sex offenders living in the community.. that is an amazingly low number for that amount of population, and other crime stats (robbery, B&E, rape, hit & run, murder, dui, etc) also reflect its safer than most communities, gated or not.. When people want to decide on what community they want to live in, there are tools they can use, such as school rating sites, walkscore, tax rates, etc and crime stat sites are (to me) just a tool in that same way..

When a person commits & is convicted of a crime it becomes a public record (just look at celebs that get charged for DUI, etc) and that never goes away, its public info forever, if someone doesnt want a crime they commited to be public info, then really, they shouldnt do it in the first place.. I do think that the minor "crimes" should not be on the registry tho, or perhaps only for repeat offences (for those that have a hard time learning the lesson)..

jmo..

And, it isn't just 'one type of criminal'.

The original notion of warning nice people in nice neighborhoods where a predatory child molester of the 'won't ever change/can't stop themselves' mold was living, was a political band aid. It was classic 'Won't somebody please think of the children??'
And then people stopped thinking of the children, and the bureaucratic mindset took over, boxes got checked, and the 'sex offender' scare mongering began. Who is on 'the list'? Flashers? Drunks peeing in alleys? Gay folks cruising the wrong bathroom? Kinky people in the privacy of their bedrooms pre- Lawrence? Farmers? (you'd have to know the case lawto get that one).

IMO, an outrage such as this is comparable with some of the barbaric Sharia laws in Islam dominated Middle East countries.

Yes. Extremely comparable. Our standard of punishment is milder, but our thinking, for the most part, is much the same. I'm reminded of back when I said such a set of laws shouldn't be introduced, because they would lead to a bunch of quite predictable and undesireable consequences that have, most of them, come to pass by now. Plenty of people assuring me it would never end up like this and that it was necessary to protect the children. I usually upheld Godwin's law at that point.
