So, a person that supports fighting tyranny with guns if it comes down to that, is an anarchist?

TricklessMagic -> RE: New NRA Prez Jim Porter Stoking New Civil War (VIDEO) (5/3/2013 8:00:22 AM)

Remember, liberty, self-reliance, personal security, and freedom is considered immoral and wrong to some of those on the left. That's how some consider it anarchy. Any resistance to the will of the "state" is considered anarchy by some.

Granted, considering those who are calling anarchy (and racism at times), it just means something good is happening is all.

Don't know the guy. You may be wrong, but for all I know, you may be right. [:D]

So you'd have said that anarchists weren't eeevil leftists, then?

FR

If it has Owner worried, he must have said something right.

FunCouple5280 -> RE: New NRA Prez Jim Porter Stoking New Civil War (VIDEO) (5/3/2013 9:06:20 AM)

Watched the video, and I didn't see him advocating rebellion. Merely stating that gun owners stand in the way of tyranny.

I think you are upset with hearing a man speak in a Southern accent.

He has to go much further to get to Wayne levels....

To Tories, of course.[8D]

subrob1967 -> RE: New NRA Prez Jim Porter Stoking New Civil War (VIDEO) (5/3/2013 8:36:32 PM)

In order to be prepared for the war, I went out and bought another AR tonight[:D]

I bought an S&W M&P15-22, and the the salesman was kind enough to throw in 375 rounds of 22LR AND 350 rounds of 9MM cause I asked nicely.

Really an AR, ignoring the .22lr caliber. Geez ARs are for those that can't handle M1A1s, FALs, and H&K G3s. Man up, man up, and play with the weakest real rifle caliber .308 Winchester/Nato. LOL

A marksman with a .22 will shoot you as dead as a marksman with a M1A1 .30... It's all about the person, not the tool.

I happen to like the AR platform, I'd use my AR10 if I needed to do some serious long range shooting, but for backyard plinking, it's a bit overkill, doncha think?.

Nice, but you ever try humping a couple hundred rounds of 7.62 any appreciable distance? On top of all the other goodies you're gonna want/need in case we all gotta go Minuteman? I prefer 5.56 because you can carry more and frankly, I don't need to extra range and punch for what I usually do. Don't get me wrong, I'd loves me getting a Garand or an M1A1, but that's a lotta iron to haul around on a long stroll and I'm not a young buck anymore [:)]

Regarding the vid clip
Yay for free speech
OTOH I havent seen that much disinformation, and paranoia, since I saw a montage of Beck, Palin and Bachman clips.

Except believing that having guns will stop tyranny is a real pipe dream. It will do no such thing when and if the govt. finally go over the 'fascist deep end.'

An older friend of mine never had any interest in guns. He was drafted and went to Vietnam. He was an FO (forward observer) and saw quite a bit of action. Twice decorated, he then gets out.

Now he has an interest in guns, he over time, buys several, some of which are made fully auto and I think even illegal to own such as an Uzi and an Ingram.

Having those guns in the home, even a collection of them never in his mind ever inspired him to suggest that was his defense against govt. tyranny.

Powergamz1 -> RE: New NRA Prez Jim Porter Stoking New Civil War (VIDEO) (5/4/2013 7:26:20 PM)

Speaking of the futility of armed resistance against the mighty mighty US government, how did that whole Vietnam thing work out again?

Interesting question. I sometimes wonder that we (i.e., the U.S.) so misunderestimated the Viet Cong, given that a key chapter early in our own history was besting, sometimes guerrilla style, a far more powerful foe.

Of course, the experience of the American revolutionaries and the Viet Cong does make me wonder if arms alone can account for victory, since both groups were seriously outgunned.
