My cat Squeek would catch critters but never kill them (the exception were flies, those got ate.. crunch, crunch, crunch).. but mices and sometimes birds were brought into the house live.. He considered this quality time with mom.. cuz mom (that was me) would scream and try to shoo the critter outside and Squeek would try to help me.. sorta.. I had this fear of hantavirus so I didnt want to get near the mouses, but shooing them is a long tedious process when they dont want to go the direction you want them to and the cat is "helping" you.. Eventually I would get them back outside and Squeek was happy cuz we got a chance to "play" together..
Sometimes there would be a fly on the wall and Squeek would jump up trying to catch it (& eat it).. if the fly was near the ceiling then I would lift him up above my head.. he was amazingly trusting that i wouldnt drop him.. try holding 10 pounds above your head when it is madly flailing away this way and that trying to catch a fly.. its not that easy, believe me.. but again, it was quality family time together..
You should go hunting with your kitty..
