The former head of the South Carolina GOP, Todd Kincannon, used his twitter account to attack an Iraq veteran, Mike Prysner, who is now an anti-war activist:

quote:

MikePrysner YOU ARE AN IRAQ VETERAN? SHAME YOU DIDN'T COME HOME IN A BODY BAG.

quote:

I WISH THE IRAQIS HAD BETTER AIM WITH HIS ASS.

quote:

Yes, I HOPE IF THAT GUY IS EVER IN COMBAT AGAIN, THE ENEMY SPLATTERS HIS BRAINS JFK-STYLE. HE DESERVES IT.

No indication, after Internet search, that Todd Kincannon ever served a day in any branch of the United States military - he has only "served" as a Republican Party official. Glad to know that he wholeheartedly honors our military veterans.

quote:

Michael Prysner (born 1983) is an American political activist. He is the co-founder of March Forward!, an organization of active-duty members of the US military and veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflict that encourages current active duty service personnel to resist deployment. HE IS A US ARMY VETERAN THAT SERVED IN IRAQ. HIS RANK WAS CORPORAL. His duties in Iraq included ground surveillance, home raids and the interrogation of prisoners. These experiences led him to take a radical anti-war stand.

Wikipedia: Michael Prysner

While I do not agree with all (or even any) of Michael Prysner's political opinions, I accord him the respect due to all U.S. military veterans.

If Todd Kincannon had served in the U.S. military, even if he had not served in a war zone or in combat, I would accord him respect. However, he'd "serves his country" by attacking the positions of those who served in our military - while cowardly hiding at home in South Carolina. Thus, he is deserving of the same amount of respect I have for what I occasionally get on my shoe while at the local dog-walking park.

Hopefully, the voters will remember if Todd Kincannon runs for elective office in the future or publically supports anyone for elective office in the future.

Someone (Kincannon) needs to observe the adage about keeping silent and being thought a fool being better than opening your mouth and proving it.

On the other hand, I am happy Kincannon spoke his mind. Now, we all know what kind of asshat he is.

This is part-and-parcel with the GOP's playbook. ANY deviation from the Party Line MUST be punished. David Frum threw all the paleo-cons who pointed out that invading and occupying Iraq was stupid. Dede Scozzafava and ny23 is a great case study.
