I've been following this story fairly closely.....as few points to add or emphasize.............

1 - The names of ALL juveniles involved were not originally released.   CNN and other outlets started using the names of the accused only after their attorneys used their names in press statements made upon their behalf.  It was the choice of the accused juveniles to be named in public and the media has simply gone along with that choice.

2 - There were some threats made against the victim on twitter following the conviction and those threats are being pursued by the DA.   My guess is that this is a scare tactic to prevent things from escalating and any punishment will be minimal.  I certainly think it's an appropriate tact and the threats are reprehensible acts that SHOULD be prosecuted.

3 - Where the HELL were the parents during these events?????   There are plenty of adults to blame for their total failure to keep an eye on what was going on and they should be held accountable.  Sadly, I suspect these adults have failed many times in the past but that seems to be the norm these days.

4 - Where the HELL is compassion, care, and responsibility in general in this story?   No adults overseeing a party.   No adults knowing where their kids are.   No kids caring enough to even call an adult or the police when they see something like this happening.

It's a disturbing story that goes WAY beyond a rape which is disturbing unto itself.

One of the many parties that night was held at the home of an assistanct coach for the team.

I'm so glad I haven't been watching the news much lately. I wouldn't be able to stand watching anyone treat the rapists as though they were somehow victims. And to me, if you're 16 and don't know right from wrong yet, you most likely never will.
