Carol - lies

I would guess that this right here explains the difference in her life experience and yours.

Do I think some men do this. Yes I do. I also think it'd be horribly rare in the social circles I hang around in -- if for no other reason than if it DID happen the people doing it wouldn't be in my social circle very long.

To all the non-asshat women in this thread, I wonder if Carol's just weren't big enough and she wasn't overtly sexual enough to draw this sort of attention. For instance, LW reports 38DD when Carol is 32D. It's certainly true that Carol has never presented as a "sex object" so it's sort of predictable that guys pondering the "hot tits baby" line of reasoning would be looking at someone else.

kallisto -> RE: Breasts and Bastards (3/17/2013 5:57:44 AM)

I've been dealing with comments on my boobs since I was a teenager. I've been anywhere from a 34D to a 38DD. But I've also been out with a group of women where we would hear comments on our asses as well. Seems it has never been necessarily a particular part of a woman's body that illicited the attention, but rather the men that were around.

I can't say it was a certain "type" of men either. It has happened walking down the street in front of a construction site as well as being in a bar after work with a group of men in business suits. I had a man (dressed in khakis/golf shirt) in the grocery store ask me to help him pick out a couple of honey dew melons ... I must have had a "wtf" look on my face because he quickly spit out a sentence along the lines of "with the ones on my chest, I should know what would be good". All I did was shake my head and walk away.

On the "not presenting as a sex object" thing, there may be some truth in that... I've previously stated that I've never had the "Nice rack!" comments, and I do believe that's because I never show them off. I've been a tomboy since my early childhood, and it's very, very rare for me to wear a dress, or a pretty top or, indeed, anything that would give much of an inkling as to the size or shape of my breasts. As it happens, I'm a 32DD which, for my frame, is fairly substantial and probably big enough to attract that kind of attention, but the men I've encountered do always seem to find easier targets for their "compliments" than me.

However... I do think that you're neglecting the fact that, sometimes, women need not be either busty or "overtly sexual" to attract those comments. I've known quite a few small breasted women who like to wear feminine - not "slutty" or "sexy" - tops, who have been the recipients of such attention, and are honestly baffled by it given that neither their general appearance nor the size of their breasts are particularly noteworthy to them. Basically, I think you're overlooking just how much some men like boobs - regardless of size or presentation - and how many men leave their manners at the door upon leaving the house.

theshytype -> RE: Breasts and Bastards (3/17/2013 11:56:34 AM)

I can't really answer the question. I'm on the small side, but have had my share of sexist men hit on me, all the while staring at my not-so-well-endowed assets. The difference is, I'm smart enough to tell the difference and walk away.

was turning down men right, left and centre because each had made the heinous mistake of complimenting her on her chest at some point - thus making them look instantly like 'crude men' in her eyes.

Well, in fairness, if someone walked up to her and said something like, "Phoarh! Nice tits!" as has been known to happen, then I wouldn't blame her for thinking them "crude". If, however, someone presented the compliment in a reasonable fashion, then I'd agree with your point. Unfortunately, there are quite a few men who don't take the time to run their thoughts past the brains on their shoulders, therefore resulting in an abundance of the aforementioned kind of comment.

I doubt any comment made on breasts is "reasonable" from a stranger. As a woman with damn nice D cups, I don't need a stranger to say anything about them. There are myriad ways to get my attention without once saying, Nice tits, Red!

However, I don't mind when someone I am involved with goes crazy over them.

As for men liking big breasts being cruder or more sexist, I agree with Peon's post.

nope, not my experience.. when I got my big girl boobs they were only size B or a small C.. and until I was 21, I weighed only 100 pounds (5'4").. but I had long blond hair and my body was hot looking (I dont deny that).. but my boobs were not ginormous.. they really were just what I consider average.. it could have been the combination of long blond hair (which in itself is frequently a head turner) and my youth and my bod.. some of my first boyfriend's dude friends would tell him I was a "fox".. that kinda thing I dont mind, its focusing on only my boobs (& cat calling strangers, etc) that is just so classless..

PeonForHer -> RE: Breasts and Bastards (3/17/2013 8:21:35 PM)

FR

I sometimes think that women with very big breasts are a bit like very tall men. You don't get to blend into the background and not be noticed. Very tall men sometimes hunch over, just like big-breasted women do. You're going to be seen and going to be looked at. You'll be 'striking' and there's no choice about it, except that of looking strikingly good or strikingly awkward, with nothing in between.

When the fuck did a size 6 with a C cup become extra large??

So what would E be, 2 small planets colliding?

No, they didn't. I'm Carol's age and I assure you men were yelling out crude comments about my large breasts over 30 years ago. As for Jeff's comment about Carol not being "overtly sexual" - on one occasion I was helping a friend move and was wearing ratty sweats with my hair up in a pony tail. A carful of guys driving by yelled out the window "impressive tits, honey". Don't see anything overtly sexual about a 26 year old woman schlepping boxes.

I've always lived in big cities, though. Maybe that's why. More crude dudes in the big city.

Duskypearls -> RE: Breasts and Bastards (3/18/2013 7:18:09 AM)

I offer, for your consideration, a new term for those who are overtly, overly attentive to breasts in a tactless way....Breastards.

kdsub -> RE: Breasts and Bastards (3/18/2013 1:24:23 PM)

In the related content link, the below was also determined...by a whole 160 or so men and 200 women..

It was found that endorsement of Western beauty ideals and practices was associated with hostility toward women, traditional sexism, hostile sexism, and, to a lesser extent, benevolent sexism. Results support feminist critiques of beauty practices as oppressive.

Just myself but I find women are the endorsers of beauty ideals not men... and I find it hard to believe that women, in this age, would purposely dress or strive for a body image in a way that attracts hostility.

I also find it hard to believe that these so called scientists would publish their finding using such a small population sample. I think I will not say for sure the results are crap but I will call it crap to say they are correct unequivocally.

Butch

I suspect some sort of socioeconomic thing. It might be "big cities" but it's more likely to be geographic and class in my opinion.

I can tell you that Carol grew up in a small-ish blue collar town (around 80,000). She moved to Kansas City MO which is a lot bigger (450k). Then she moved to Sacramento which is nominally the same size but when counting the "greater Sacramento area" it's a lot bigger. Neither of us have ever lived in a really big city like LA, San Fran, New York, etc.

At least in the last 20 years when she's been living with me it's been in middle or upper middle class neighborhoods and work has been white collar in white collar sort of business districts. What is true is that we've always eschewed gated communities because we like some variety in our lives. So the grocery store she shopped at would have a pretty wide spread of people including blacks & whites & hispanics & assorted asians. Income distribution would be from welfare to upper middle class. yet still... nada.

Is this an east coast thing? From the time I've spent there I can see "nice tits baby" as MUCH more like in an east coast metro area than anywhere we have ever lived.

On that theme, I've got to say that I really wouldn't take London males as representative of the UK's males as a whole, still less of men as a whole.

DesFIP -> RE: Breasts and Bastards (3/18/2013 8:46:55 PM)

After age 18, no. Prior to that, yes.

And having looked at the computer images of the same female with different size breasts, I don't think she presents as obviously of legal age.

I'm a DD. The Man adores large breasts. But he's rarely hostile.

I have run into that a few times when I was in SoCal (Orange, CA).. and the men were Hispanic (one seemed drunk, his sober buddy had to pull him away).. maybe sexual harassment is accepted south of the border.. whereas white males seem to have learned to be more careful who they do that to.. I dunno.. getting anything like that (seeing as I am not 18 anymore lol) surprised me.. and I was walking across parking lots to get to a store when these things happened..
