estimer -> Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 9:25:59 AM)

I used a picture o Einstein as my picture and the moderators made me take it down siting that the picture had to be one that i had taken. however I have seen more than a couple other profile pictures that were obviously not taken by the person owning the profile.

What is wrong with Einstein?

DomMeinCT -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 9:30:51 AM)

Despite your interest in physics, you may not be permitted to use photos of others here.

I always heard that:

Love is a matter of chemistry,
but sex is a matter of physics.

As I understand it, photos are reviewed in the order they are reported. So the mods got to yours first. Big deal. Put up a different photo that meets the TOS you agreed to follow when you joined.

A better question is what the F*** does this have to do with BDSM?

peppermint -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 9:36:52 AM)

Pictures that are against TOS are brought to the Mod's attention in two ways.  The first way is to post on the forums.  The Mods regularly monitor those forums and would see the picture in question.  The other way is for people to report your picture as being against TOS.

I suspect your picture came to attention because you posted in the forums.  If you see pictures that are against TOS you can report those.

LadyPact -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 9:38:45 AM)

About the same thing that's wrong with this being labeled General BDSM Discussion.

OK, joking aside, the fact that you got caught and maybe other people didn't isn't the point here. It's kind of like saying, "but Mooooommmmm, all of the other kids were doing it, too". Did it ever matter to your Mother what other people were doing when she was correcting *your* behavior? Probably not.

When you signed that little "I agree" regarding ToS, you said you would only post pics of yourself or those that you photographed yourself. Since I'm betting that you're not Einstein, and you didn't have the chance to have him sit down for a photo shoot, the Mods were within their authority in asking you to remove it.

Pyramus -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 11:09:17 AM)

I think it's as simple as it got flagged, or, someone actually sent a [email protected] message proving it was their photo.

estimer -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 11:16:10 AM)

Ouch bite my asshole out. LoL, i posted this because i found it interesting that it got attention. To the question "WTF does Einstein have to do with BDSM" I say WTF does maple leaves have to do with BDSM (I am referancing DomMein's photo.) or that picture that pepper has. Nothing its just an fin picture. And actually it was a gif and not a photo. I am really not mad just suprised. I mean if i put a picture of something racist, negative, or infringing on some copyright. But a goofy gif of Einstein holding an atom. I know its against the rules, now i really didn't read the TOS, but that's like a cop taking a kid to jail for .25 g of weed. It's legal but a waste of time.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 11:21:02 AM)

Being Einstein is dead and I doubt his estate is enforcing copyright infringement on alt lifestyle sites over avatars that involve no profit oif gain from using the pic... I agree it was fucking silly to pull that pic on their own. I can't imagine a mod that has nothing better to do than fuck with a bunch of shit that is almost old enough to be public domain. I can only guess that someone, somehow complained.

estimer -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 11:24:16 AM)

Amen. That is how i wanted to say it.

There is a difference between an avatar and a TOPIC.

At the top of this section is something called "forum guidelines". Here is a part of that description:

quote:

As the description for this section states, this is a forum for the open discussion of topics pertaining to BDSM and related subjects. All members are welcome to join in the conversation here regardless of experience or interest.

Subjects which are unacceptable regardless of circumstance include, but are not limited to - minors engaged in sexual activities, bestiality, incest, necrophilia, snuff and criminal activities. Any other questions of acceptability will be determined based on the content of the given essay.

Keep the discussions civil and mature, and do not insult the kinks, preferences, lifestyles, etc. of others.

There is an Off Topic Discussion category elsewhere on this board if you wish to bring up subjects other than those intended here

The site provides tons of information about how the joint works. Perhaps, you should read some of it.

Perhaps I like getting flogged with Japanese maple leaves. Do you do something with Einstein?

estimer -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 12:11:31 PM)

Hell yeah. Energy threw my man parts (estim). :)

Outstanding!

I share in return the words of a PhD teaching a course in aviation:

"Everything in life is timing, positioning, and lubrication."

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 7:26:15 PM)

First of all, moderators do NOT review pictures. You, in fact, did NOT a letter from a moderator telling you to pull down the picture; what you actually got was a generic letter stating possible copyright issues. What that means is you do not have the RIGHT to display Einstein as yourself on your profile. Making the ambiguous statement" there are lots of other pictures that posters did not take themselves" is not relevant to the letter you got. I can also personally assure you that a moderator did not just pull your picture on a whim because they lack that particular power on the site. What happened is your picture got reported. You did not only not take the picture, it is not of you or an inanimate object. It is of another human that is very well known. Is it kind of over meticulousness to the rules? Well, the staff member would not have pulled it on its own, but in response to a report. So, TECHNICALLY, it is a violation. Is it a biggie? No. Is the staff supposed to decide what is a biggie and only enforce rules when reported on the "biggies"? No,. because they do not selectively enforce tos.

TheHeretic -> RE: Einstein got removed (3/2/2013 7:32:00 PM)

If you want Einstein for your forum avatar, I'd suggest searching the available files here, or visiting a website which offers downloads on free ones, then install it here. For your profile, looks like SOL, Dude.

or that picture that pepper has.
i

Excuse me.  There is nothing in the TOS that says my picture has to be BDSM related.  We were referring to you putting your complaint in the General BDSM forum when it has nothing to do with BDSM at all.  It only has to do with your complaint that your picture might be against TOS.

By the way, my picture IS BDSM related.  I wanted a tattoo based on the old BDSM emblem but didn't want to just have the emblem tattooed as is.  So I took a picture of the emblem to an artist and asked him to base a tattoo on it.  This was his design.  Many people realize the tattoo's origin,.  You, apparently, do not.

Who said that someone's profile picture or avatar for the forums had to be BDSM related?
It just has to be within the guidelines of the TOS.

The OP posted this on one of his other threads.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but isn't one of the rules around here "No gifs"? Something about them sucking up too much bandwidth or something like that? If his gif avatar was appearing in every single one of his posts, wouldn't that eat a lot of bandwidth?

Then again, I'm not really technologically savvy, so maybe a gif in the avatar spot wouldn't be as bad as a gifs in posts, for some reason.

It's the animated gifs that are a problem.
