All of this is only my opinion. I say this, so that no one feels as though they have to correct me on it.

I realize a forum is for give and take. I love politics, but I tend to shy from it, as it invariably starts in with name calling and people getting pissed off, and that's basic. Happens every time. So, if I don't want to see anything negaitive, I stay away.

I read several forums a day. I've noticed lately that no matter what someone writes about, there's always something that someone finds objectionable, or feels the need to say something negative about it. At the very least, they use the thread as an occasion to either be "too cool for that," or to point out some example of why they wouldn't do it that way, or an example of why something isn't what the other person said, yada, yada, yada.

For example:

Poster one: I just ate dog turds, and they were delicious!
Poster two: Oh, I would never eat the garbage at Dog Turd City.

Poster one: I love Christmas!
Poster two: Christmas is a horrible time for me that reminds me of the time my grandma served dog turds!

Poster one: I believe that there is a God, and she is made of pasta.
Poster two: Why are you jamming your beliefs down my throat??

So I stumbled into an idea. How about one thread--and it doesn't have to be this one--where everyone ONLY says benign things, and if someone disagrees, they just move on to the next thread. Kind of a say what you want to say, and if you don't have something nice to say, just don't bother saying anything.

Just one. Just for the hell of it. One really positive thread. First one to break the chain gets a dog turd.

I love your idea. No reason we can't have more than one positive thread!

Just one. Just for the hell of it. One really positive thread.

I think that's a great idea and I'd like to contribute a touching story of positively positive positiveness.

An old fellow had gone to his doctor for a physical. At 80 years of age he was planning to marry. During the course of the exam, the doctor learned from his patient that the intended bride was only eighteen years old. But he completed the examination without commenting on this information, and finally the two sat down to discuss the results.

"You're in pretty good shape for a man your age," the doctor began. "But," he said, his tone becoming more serious, "I'm concerned because the young lady is only eighteen." His patient looked at him quizzically, not grasping what he was being told. "What I mean," the doctor explained, feeling none too good about the spanner he was about to throw into his patient's happiness, "is that too much sex could be fatal."

It was a blow. A saddened look came over the old fellow's face and he slumped in the chair. For a time, neither spoke. Finally the old gentleman looked up and smiled softly, having resolved to be positive and accept what fate would bring. "Well," he said, "if she dies, she dies."

On a very positive note, I really do appreciate the trainwreck thread. No matter what else is going on, somebody has recently posted some pic that makes Me laugh or smile.

I'd also like to repeat a comment that I made on another thread. For the most part, I think people treat Me pretty darn good around here. I appreciate the courtesy that I receive and I'd like to thank the many forum participants that I really enjoy conversing with. I've had the pleasure of meeting a lot of folks from this place and I hope to meet many more before I'm through.

There is no doubt in the world that artichokes are quite delicious, and that the universe's existence is vindicated, in my own estimation, by the simple pleasure of a steamed artichoke.

being positive is all well and good. however, even in a group of friends you will get a debate on any one topic. i see no reason why the net should be any different. imo the forums would be a more boring place if everything was just one person agreeing with another. threads would die pretty quickly too. just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean that your opinion isn't valid in your own life. the way i look at it is that if someone comes in spouting a 'one trooo way' then they can expect someone to say that that one way opinion doesn't actually work for them. it's human nature.

i pretty much like this site. i like that we have the 'admits' thread where we can say what we like, ask for support and get it, and share our good times too. the train wreck thread is one of my first ports of call too because there is always something to make me smile. however, i also like the threads where there are debates going on because i may get to learn something too. i also think that if i am debating a point of my own i may learn something from the person i am debating with, or them from me even if neither of us change our own views.

Have you stuffed them with garlic, breadcrumbs and a little olive oil, then steamed them? It's a face orgasm!

I noticed at one of the convenience stores that they have a coffee that is salted caramel flavor. I like my coffee plain, but it did make me crave a Payday bar for HOURS.

actually i didn't piss on it at all. if you don't like that people have differing opinion then tough luck. it's life get over it. i simply pointed out how human nature is, and i didn't realiuse that you got to make the rules for how people post. my post above is actually positive, you have just chosen to take offence. stop being so sensitive.
