And this is exactly the problem many Christians have with atheists. Oh. That's the problem? The whole "you do not accept my fantasy superfriend and are therefore, according to my own lore, going to be tortured for all eternity," thing...that's not the problem? Did that stop being a core Christian tenet at some point? Is this a recent development? Odd, though, about that whole torture-forever thing...maybe god is a top? I have yet to see Christians on this site hurling insults at atheists beliefs, or even telling them they are going to be "tortured for all eternity." Certainly, there are Christians that are basically zealots trying to convert the world. The majority of Christians, however, don't care if you are going to burn in hell for your beliefs, nor do we care to change your beliefs. It is the atheists, as you have just shown that feel this need to insult. You seem to have some need to feel superior for your beliefs. That's fine. For the record, the majority of faith based religions believe those who don't share their particular belief aren't getting "in." I personally don't agree with that, although I do believe I have no need to worry about the future of those who need to make themselves feel better about their beliefs by insulting the beliefs of others. You know, it's really kind of funny. Normally, I don't discuss religious beliefs, or my lack of them, because I've found it's pointless. And in fact, since there is no place on this planet where the vast majority of the population are not believers in some religion or other, if I had to choose which believers to I was going to live amongst, I would choose the christians. They are, after all, for the most part a little more tolerant than say, the taliban. While it's true as you say that ON THIS SITE, it's rare that evangelical christians try to shove their beliefs down my throat (although the very existence of this thread shows that it does happen), in this country, it happens all the time. In the forty years since I became a non-believer, it's been a rare day that someone hasn't tried it. And are you really trying to say that no christians make fun of others beliefs, or lack of them, that christians don't "have some need to feel superior for their beliefs?" The general theme of nearly every religious group I've ever encountered is, "We're better than everybody else because we, and only we, have the "One True Faith." "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"
