One persistent problem I've long noticed, not only on Collarme, but in many BDSM venues are shills who set up profiles to lure members away to paysite where partners are, supposedly, more available and more amenable, but who turn out to be blind leads that disappear once the lured member gets there.

I don't know what could be done about this, but we should all be aware of many profiles, here, that perform that function.

Well, I can tell you that complaining about it in the forums will do nothing to rectify the situation.

Thanks. Without this thread, we'd have never known

If you don't sign up for the websites, the shills will go away.

Pyramus -> RE: Paysite shills. (2/1/2013 5:52:03 PM)

Flag and forget.

You wanna know what can be done about it? Hit the "next profile" button.

Seriously....next profile. Easy peasy. [sm=banghead.gif][8|]

Report. (if you believe it is a TOS violation)
Hide.

Walla you NEVER see it again.

OP do you think that coming here complaining about the profiles with paid links on the other side will change anything?

For the record.
The people who post links to paid sites aren't holding a gun to anyone's head and FORCING them to sign up. Supposedly YOU and everyone else on this site are adults.

Why not start taking personal responsibility.
And act like adults.
Which means owning YOUR shit.

Point taken, by those, here, who say I should forget about it and move on. I mentioned it only because I was not sure how many others were aware, and because such profiles are against management policy. I guess management is overwhelmed, though, so I'll just follow the advice, here, to flag and forget.

Switcheroo1983 -> RE: Paysite shills. (2/2/2013 5:54:43 AM)

LOL, yeah, I've seen some on here, and been messaged by some, but geez, all i did was ignore it and move on. Some were likely real people, although one was most surely a spam/scam-bot. No need to get worked up about it.

Yes, admin is overwhelmed, they've mentioned it here on the board. Best you can do is report scam-bots.

peppermint -> RE: Paysite shills. (2/2/2013 7:10:11 AM)

Well, since Collarme warns you about those sites I would guess that they know about those sites. There is a list of common scams in your mail area. I would guess that you might have been in too much of a hurry to read them so I'll post one here for you.

Scam #5 - Duping you into purchasing paid services
These scammers will feign an interest in you and then send you a link to website or a phone number (not necessarily a 900 number) where you will be required to pay a subscription fee to see the scammer's profile, see them "on cam", or speak to them on the phone. Of couse, these scammers work for the companies in question and are collecting a profit for every 'sucker' they can get to sign-up for their paid services.

mnottertail -> RE: Paysite shills. (2/2/2013 7:12:22 AM)

What's a disreson?  Is it a scam?  Am I the only one?  How did we get to 7 of these things?  Am I the only one?

LizDeluxe -> RE: Paysite shills. (2/2/2013 7:56:50 AM)

Didn't match.com or eharmony.com get busted for this?

Trust me, all the posters here are aware. It's mentioned two or three times a week in the topics, all by people who think they've stumbled onto a great secret.
