That's marine plywood - pretty hard stuff.
They have several branches of oak in their cage - they don't last long either!

Judging from the way Mac watches TV and memorizes commercials with animals in them, I wouldn't doubt that he can read a clock.

It's a habit. He is used to seeing you at certain places at certain times.

My cat was the same way. I was always up at 6am for work at which time I would feed him. Even on the weekends when I didn't have to work, he was so used to being fed at the same time everyday, if I didn't wake up he'd meow and wake me up to get fed at 6am. Didn't matter that it was the weekend! Only that it was 6am.

It's how you train animals. Repetition.

Mine don't get up early on the weekends. That could be because they've been trained that every so often, they got kicked off.

Well, in my case it must mean that Urmel was inpatient getting "his" (mine!!!) bed back....cause mine are fed close to 24/7 as I always put the dry food box on the floor with one large side being cut open (just cant be bothered to feed daily with 4 cats, as it would run empty all the time...way easier to just give them the box, knowing that they dont overeat themselves anyway)....

so yes I guess you have a point....he was annoyed that his bed were still being used instead of being empty for this lil king

well....I often had the habbit that when I did oversleep in the past I just overslept by about 5-10 Minutes...sort of "now my bus left" not an hour late or so...nope....my internal clock used to have the habbit to being "just late" instead of punctual

Oh, man, do you have one of those too? Mine are brother and sister from the same litter. The boy weighs 18 pounds, the girl weighs five. She's hyperactive, and the fat boy would really prefer to be fed in bed. I've been forcing him to exercise by luring him with a stick and a string, but once he's done, it's back to plop time.

I don't know about the time, but a vet featured on NPR just last week said that while dogs didn't differentiate volume they *could* count, so as a diet aid if you normally gave your dog three treats, give him only one broken into three pieces and the dog will still be happy.

My mom had 2 cocker spaniels who got used to eating every morning at 6 am because that was when she usually got up and fed them. On the days she did not get up, they would wake her up. It was a real pain in the ass when the time would change because they didn't understand that it was now 5 am and would still try to get her up.

When my daughter moved out, she took the cat wit her since it was actually her kitty she raised since he was a baby. He's up there in age now and lazy as hell. My daughter tried to put him on a diet but he would never shut up always wanting to eat. She eventually gave up and said to me one day "I give up. I decided to let him die a happy, fat cat". hahaha

She also complained one day to me that he wakes her and her bf up everyday at 6am even though they don't have to be up that early. I told her it was because of my time schedule he grew up with. That's what he's used to now. She tried to break him of it but he's too old now I told her. He's set in his ways now. They've tried everything lol. Close the door and all he does is scratch at the door until they open it.

Poor kids. Now that get to go through what I went through all those years!

Mine are only five years old. I'm pretty sure they're going to outlive me. And then fat boy will probably try to eat me.

KB has saved my butt from oversleeping far too many times for it to be a coincidence. And he knows my days off, even when they rotate. That may be because on my Friday, I don't go to sleep at all, I'm literally up all night. However, when he's hungry, there is no sleep for me......he has a metabolic disorder w/his thyroid, and doesn't store body fat, and his metabolism is to die for. This entails him eating about every 3-4 hours. I have tried to ignore him, but his will is greater than mine. I decided a long time ago that it's just easier to stagger to the kitchen and feed him. The other 3 cats are fine, in fact, they may not even eat, but Bitty will eat too, and unfortunately, has picked up on the fact that if you wake mom up, she'll feed you. I know the getting woke up every 3 hours hasn't helped with my sleep disorder, but they are my babies, and their needs are important.

The dog I had growing up used to meet us at the bus stop up the street from my house. All the moms just watched for Penny to walk up the sidewalk, and they knew the bus was coming. She'd walk there in the am, but never did it on the weekends. She knew Monday thru Friday, too. One other thing, she remembered directions.....she was deathly afraid of thunderstorms. One Saturday, i'd gone to a friend's house, and she went with us in the car. She'd never been to the house before that day. About 2 hours later, the storm hit, and we heard scratching at the front door. We went to the door, and there was Penny, panting and frothing at the mouth. She had remembered where I was and how to get there. Mom had gone shopping and didn't even know the storm was coming in. To this day, I'm still amazed that she found me.

She was my best friend when I was a kid....I was a bit of a loner, and she never judged me, just was always there when I needed her. I still miss her to this day. I cna't wait to see her again at the Bridge.
