You wouldn't believe how often (as an ancient 35yo) that I've encountered this. Even from people fresh off the plane.

Like this year...

From Nuclear Scientists (who you'd think ought to know better)...

Who wanted to rent a car, and drive to LA, Chicago, Seattle, New York and DC...

In one week.

Europeans suffer from this. Our states are the sizes of a lot of their countries. They really don't understand the real size of the country until they drive it.

It's not just Europeans.
I admit, I didn't realize how big of a state PA was until I went from Md to Erie and that is hell of a drive. Lol

San Diego and LA counties are each the size of Connecticut. Even people in the US have no idea how far San Francisco is from San Diego.

You'd be surprised how many of my clients don't realize that all of New York is not the New York City area. I had someone that wanted to fly into JFK and take a cab to Albany. [8|]

MissToYouRedux -> RE: Going to Los angeles Alone (1/23/2013 12:20:07 PM)

Yes, the number of guys on business in SoCal who want to come see me in NorCal in their free "couple of hours" is staggering. [:D]

Driving across PA width wise is a nightmare!  If you do it at night, and pull into one of those truck stops, it almost feels like entering a Stepehn King novel....

Ok, so those counties are bigger than my whole state.  At least I think Connecticut is bigger than New Jersey, lol.

I have no clue to the distance between San Francisco and San Diego is, but I do know California is huge and San Fran is at the top and San Diego at the bottom.

hlen5 -> RE: Going to Los angeles Alone (1/23/2013 2:14:23 PM)

I can't remember where I saw someone ask "If it was better to see the Statue of Liberty in the morning and the Grand Canyon in the evening, or vice versa?"

It ain't exactly down the street. You can drive to the rhode island line in the same amount of time.

Actually, San Francisco isn't even the top of California. It's another 300 or so miles to the Oregon border from SFO.

Just to give you an idea. A lot of times southern and northern California have their own weather. It can be hot in the south and snow up in the northern part.
