She is 1/4 Siberian husky and 3/4 timber wolf, bred in Texas by breeders that keep both pure breed huskies and timberwolves that are third and fourth generation in captivity.
She gets attention on her terms, does not tolerate Damian my great nephew much when he is awake, but when he is sleeping she is always close by, if not on the couch with Damian or in my sister's bed where he sleeps on the nights my niece works. If he is asleep and you get closer than she thinks you should be, you get a low growl, if he stirs in his sleep she comes to get the closest adult, or in my sister's case, wakes her up to check him.
Actually, when he is awake she will check him, and seems to know when he needs changed because when she whimpers near him, he has a wet or dirty diaper.
My other five dogs only give Damian the occasional lick on the face, and hang close when he is eating, since he has a bad habit of sharing finger food with the dogs.
Anyway, we both have special dogs, and clearly we love them a lot.
You have moved up from average collarme acquaintance to special person. I have a high opinion of dog lovers.
