I'm trying to come up with a list of questions to ask prospective Doms as I chat through initial emails. One of the questions I ask is what is in their toybag. Twice now I've been told that the Dom likes to use things around the house - like kitchen implements. It feels more "natural".

Er - excuse me - but is it wrong of me to expect (hope) that they have a collection of floggers, crops, paddles, and canes? I mean, i like creativity and all, and maybe a wooden spoon or whatever is fun once in a while, but for me, nothing can replace a leather flogger, strap, etc.

Well some people enjoy using pervertables. Though to me it makes since for a dom/me to use a set of toys for each of their subs/slaves if it's long term.

There's nothing wrong with hoping somebody has a well stocked toy bag. I'm doubtful that many folks are perfecting their florentine flogging technique with things found around the house.

However, always remember that owning a certain type of toy isn't the same as knowing how to *use* that type of toy. Some people buy whips who have never picked one up before and think that just because they own it, they are ready to use it on another person.

EXACTLY while I hide my "gear" near my horse equipment for plausable denyability. There are certain whips I consider too severe for human use & keep strictly for horse show needs.

Some of the best tools that have been used on me where the simple things like wooden spoons, chopsticks with rubber bands, hangers, dollar store clothing lines, etc. lol

Personally, I like seeing a creative Top. A costly toy shows that they either have money or capable of saving up for some really cool stuff. But if they can change a simple household item into something that will have me cringe or whimper. . .Big Win.

But to each his own. Having your own toy bag is a wonderful option. I have a friend who does a "Show me yours and I will show you mine." That way she knows her toys have only touched her and she gets to see if the Top has toys she likes. Invest in what you like and learn about your toy. That way you can have your own safe show and tell.

A few years back, I told a gf I had to pick up a few things to restock my toy bag with.
She knew what bag I meant but thought we would end up at an adult store.
We ended up at WalMart.

Shopping list :

Saran Wrap (clear, blue, and green)
wooden spoons
wooden spatula
pizza cutter
wooden ruler
kabob sticks
bungi cord
rope
thick bicycle chain and lock
feather duster

She said, "um for your toy bag?"
I said yes.
she said, " I will dont even wanna ask"

I do have the typical toys in my bag as well but I like to use every day things so my subs have every day triggers.

When I began mentoring young dommes, I taught them to use every day object 1st.

Those little things that remind them of their time with me, even if that thing happens to be a feather duster. Lol

ETA: I have used a cucumber for masturbation as well, then ate it. It's not an uncommon thing for people to do.

There is no household implement that cannot be used as toys, with the possible exception of used toilet paper, unless you are some of the submissive male worm types that frequent here.

Pervables not only show creativity but cost effectiveness. My favorite flogger is actually my least expensive. Thumb thick rope with stuffed smiley faces on the end covering knots. Has both soft & super thuddy feel depending on use. Like to show it to people for laughs then laugh even harder when hear "OW that f'er hurts!!" Yep, keep laughing sunshine OW isn't your safeword!!

EXACTLY!!

Much like using a silk scarf to tie my partners hand and another to blind fold him.
He had never been bound by anyone before.
Told if he unties his hands I stopped what I was doing. Lol

Your response about needing 10 years experience to become a dom, just made me laugh.

For me you are either a dominant personality or you are not. I don't need someone to "learn" to be dominant. Then again I seem to be the minority on that view. If someone approached me and said they were learning to become a dom, it would automatically turn me off of them. It says it's not your natural personality and you're just learning to play a role.

When he & I met we each had our own toy bags, although I had a lot more stuff than he did. Since then, we've added to the collection together, and that's been the fun part.

As for household stuff, we've broken too many spatulas and wooden spoons to keep using them. He's stored me in his closet before, used hair brushes, shoes, and has threatened me with sandpaper.

As for cucumbers, all I can say is in my last relationship I had to insert and then cut it up to put in a salad. I guess that gives all new meaning to "creamy italian" lol.

@littlewonder I would reject someone who wasn't a natural dominant personality. I meant education about BDSM theory, techniquea and other basic skills that all Doms should know. The Doms that i respect tell me that they never stop learning.
As far as household pervertibles, I'm warming up to that idea. If a Dom had good creativity with that, then I could imagine buildning our own collection of toys which might include some conventional store-bought ones - not-so-conventional ones too (Home Depo. Dollar Store, etc.).

Best thing I have had used on me... A big bamboo Chinese whisk. I think whatever works. What is in the toy bag doesn't reflect at all the skill of the Dom

Master used tooth floss once on my nipples. He thought he has put a knot in it that could be easily removed. Unfortunately it came undone and tightened on my nip and he couldn't get it off. He had to cut it off very, very carefully and I held my breath as he did so I didn't move.
