Status: offline 		WTF is going on with it? It has been automatically disabled on my puter, and reading articles I have found it seems there is almost a danger of a plague from JAVA right now.

My silly POGO solitare game needs JAVA! What am I sposed to do? Get a life or something?

I'm a Pogoholic too! I've been using Firefox for a few months now, and loving it, especially for how
it works on Pogo. IE was just sooooo slow.

What Firefox has done is disable java on it's browsers, but making it available for site specific use.
That's good news for us, as I hardly think we'll find someone on Pogo trying to hack into your account
and steal our minis and tokens.

In addition, Mountain View-based Mozilla said in a blog post that it has begun blocking Java on
its Firefox browser unless someone clicks on a feature to activate the software. The click-to-play
feature "allows users to enable the Java plugin on a per-site basis if they absolutely need the Java
plugin for the site," the blog said.

Status: offline 		I see you are using FireFox. IE did not issue a security alert.

You should see a "plugin disabled" message.
The second line of the message should say "click here to enable this plugin"

Just click it to restart java plugin.

Status: offline 		I've been having problems with java all week. I ended up disabling and reloading it. It seems to be hit and miss right now. I remember hearing something earlier today about something going on with java but I don't remember exactly what.

ETA: Aaahh...thanks RS. I did that already but I still seem to be having hit and miss issues. I think I'm just gonna have to keep resetting things or something.

Other than a stick with a spring in one end to enable bouncing, I have no clue as to what you guys are talking about.

Hey now! Calling POGO games silly is just fightin' words! I gotta have my Crossword Cove crossword puzzle every morning just to kick-start my brain. Then there is Boggle Bash (POGO's version of Boggle), Mahjong Safari, and an occasional game of Scrabble to keep my brain ticking throughout the day.

The games aren't silly...they're NECESSARY!

Oh...and just to stay on topic...My Internet Explorer hasn't co-operated with JAVA for quite a while, and a day and a half ago my IE stopped working all together. After reading the thread I dont' know if the problems are related or not. I got it going again by downloading the latest IE9 last night. I used Google Chrome during the downtime, but hated it. I used to have Firefox but totally got rid of that, not for performance issues, but just because I didn't like their format.

As far as JAVA, I have to use an older version. When I use the latest version it keeps automatically adding weird shortcut icons to pages of computer script stuff all over my screen desktop. At one time I had to, one-by-one, go through and delete over 150 of the stupid things.

I play Lottso with my coffee every morning, and there is a Tri-Peaks Solitaire room that is fun to sit and watch the non stop fights in too!

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is advising people to temporarily disable the Java software on their computers to avoid potential hacking attacks.

The recommendation came in an advisory issued late Thursday, following up on concerns raised by computer security experts.

Experts believe hackers have found a flaw in Java’s coding that creates an opening for criminal activity and other high-tech mischief.

Java is a widely used technical language that allows computer programmers to write a wide variety of Internet applications and other software programs that can run on just about any computer’s operating system.

Oracle Corp. bought Java as part of a $7.3 billion acquisition of the software’s creator, Sun Microsystems, in 2010.

Oracle, which is based in Redwood Shores, Calif., had no immediate comment late Friday.

Status: offline 		Runescape (Jagex) is allowing me in a back door to play. Mom and I are Pogo addicts (got to play my Clue or other hidden objects games) and she is having the DTs...

I just want this mess to be resolved. Seeing a grown woman going through withdrawals is not a pretty sight...

When you go to the game room, up in the address bar there is a little red thingymabob that looks broken. Click on it and it will says something like "some plugins are disabled for your protection" or something like that. It then offers a chance to allow the plugins for that site (Pogo), only.

I hope my technical terms did not confuse ya!

Status: offline 		Thanks poise. I decided to disable mine and that does seem to be what was wrong with my computer for the past week or so when it was acting all wonky. My fonts and graphics properties had changed without me changing them so after disabling java, I ran an extra virus checker and it seems that is exactly what happened.

I won't be putting java back on until the patch and making sure it actually works.
