Schools 'Pushing the Liberal Agenda' by Teaching Algebra

quote:

Fox News host Eric Bolling on Wednesday accused some schools of "pushing the liberal agenda" for teaching an algebra lesson about the distributive property.

During a segment about "indoctrination in schools," Bolling reminded viewers of a 2009 video of children chanting, "Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Barack Hussein Obama," which outraged conservatives at the time.

"But even worse is the way some textbooks are pushing the liberal agenda," the Fox News host explained, pointing to an algebra worksheet that Scholastic says gives students "insight into the distributive property as it applies to multiplication."

"Distribute the wealth!" Bolling exclaimed, reading the worksheet. "Distribute the wealth with the lovely rich girl with a big ole bag of money, handing some money out."

Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle explained that the algebra worksheet had put her on "high alert" for the liberal agenda in her 6-year-old son's curriculum.

"Barack Hussein Obama. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm," Guilfoyle added to mock the so-called indoctrination video.

Co-host Dana Perino also expressed concern over an effort to stop children from role playing "cowboys and Indians" at Thanksgiving because experts say that "the historic enemy of Indians was not cowboys, but the U.S. government."

"So it starts in third grade and guess what happens?" Bolling remarked. "Through their whole educational experience, they continually get indoctrinated, even through college."

"Everybody has anecdotal evidence of this," co-host Greg Gutfeld agreed. "I think the only way leftism can survive is through indoctrination because its number one adversary is reality. So you got to get them young and it's perfect for kids. Paul Krugman's logic is child's play: Share your stuff... A lot of this comes from the teachers. They get their news from The Huffington Post and their antiperspirant from a health food store. This is the way they live."

Bolling advised parents to read their children's history books because his son's textbook addressed the Iraq war "and they were very, very liberally biased, saying George Bush went in there because he heard there were weapons of mass destruction and they were never found. It was a very liberal bias to the history books."

"There are science teachers that if they hear that if a student is questioning, like, any kind of climate change thing, they just, like, think you're an idiot," Gutfeld observed.

"You guys just gave two examples of things that are right," left-leaning co-host Bob Beckel quipped.

Attached is a copy of the "Liberal Indoctrination Algebra Worksheet". It can also be found at:

Nobody ever accused Republicans of being bright, did they?

Besides, as we all know - 'Reality has a well-known liberal bias'. Same goes for mathematics. And physics is highly suspect and is next on the agenda.

Indeed, the word 'algebra' derives from an arabic root. The very word itself is clear evidence of Islamic infiltration of ideas into our great and glorious Western democracy.

Rise up, I say. Root out this algebraic curse for what it is! The longest indoctrination plot in the history of modern man, going back thousands of years.

Thank God we have Fox News to uncover these truths. And yea, their truthiness is mighty indeed.

Look I am a democrat, but not all republicans are this... stupid? is that the word I am looking for?

I mean thishereboi is a Republican and shows remarkable intelligence. Now if he had a higher common sense quotient, he would have joined the Klingon liberation party.

Schools Push Liberal Agenda By Using Redistributed Tax Dollars For Funding!

Tell these parents to pull their children out of school (assuming these are public schools) if they don't like the idea of sharing the money (that's what taxes are).

And if they are private schools, tell these parents to find a private school that better suits their personal agenda: no science, no math, religious study all day, every day. I would like to see nothing better than for conservatives to get the education for their children that they deserve. They have the right to get what they want from a private institution. There are many out there who cater to this.

~Fast Reply~

Let's face it, math makes smart people stupid.

I have no idea how many hours I spent on the "missing dollar" question, before I figured it out.

People react to words.  Words combined with math. . . well. . . yeah.

I have no idea what point Mr. Bolling was trying to make. . . but I think, so far as this article goes, he failed.

Good God Almighty! This is such bullshit!

The claim is not that schools are pushing the liberal agenda by teaching algebra. Damn. Is it possible that any of you can critique posts from your side of the aisle? I mean, seriously?

To clear this up... it wasn't the "Distributive Property" being taught that was the issue. The Title on the paper, "Distribute the Wealth" was the issue.

But, ya'all continue to mock and make fun of Conservatives and others that don't agree with your ideas.

I don't want to hear a fucking thing from any of you deriding anyone who posts a ridiculous post from a Conservative standpoint. If you can't hold yourselves to the same standards, you have no right to hold others to a standard.

I'm normally not a FOX partisan, but anyone fighting to save future generations from the agonies of algebra can't be all bad. [:)]

Ahh.  I see the issue now.  Forgive me, I already said that it took me awhile to figure out the "missing dollar" problem.

Personally, I think that this section was badly worded.  At least I hope so.

Provided by a company who not only sells to public schools, but to private school organizations, but mostly directly to parents for home schooling.

Does it strike no one as.. strange... that this came from an on line site?

I think this entire thing should have been filed under the SMH with rolled eyes and forgotten. The guy wants to blow off some steam, let him, and then continue to ignore him. Without people getting bent out of shape over his "report," it would simply fade into obscurity. Since it doesn't seem like ya'all are willing to let that happen, at least criticize the guy over what he was honestly doing. Don't misrepresent his assertions and blast him for them.

Recall how overjoyed you all were regarding the "You didn't build that" crap.

No, but then I'm fried after a long week. I'd forgotten how long five days could be!

Why does its online provenance strike you as strange?

I did listen.

I did roll my eyes

I did shake my head

And I went about my day

I wouldn't worry about it. There's no evidence that the effort is having any effect.

There is no evidence that the algebra is taking either.

It might possibly be an issue if that was part of a civics or history paper, rather than example of how algebra is done.
It looks a lot more like a paranoid histrionic halfwit throwing a tantrum than somebody pointing an issue.

Uh you have just described 99% of the on air personalities of Fox news.

No disagreement Moonhead. I may not have used those words, but that was my point in post #12. And, I'm not supporting the idea that the title on the page was a problem, just that was what this guy was having a problem with. The OP's assertion, written or otherwise, was that his problem was with them teaching algebra.
