TNDommeK -> RE: Men's fashion (1/11/2013 2:43:17 PM)

I showed my husband this and he said," there will be no straight man, at a football game, with a beard, wearing that shit. What did you just show me?"
Hahaha

Kana -> RE: Men's fashion (1/11/2013 2:45:35 PM)

No

Dreadmath -> RE: Men's fashion (1/11/2013 2:49:17 PM)

I interpret this as a joke. The "Please Kill Me" shirt in particular put a smile on my face ^^.

Missokyst -> RE: Men's fashion (1/11/2013 3:31:50 PM)

LOL I LOVED that shirt!
but omg, I have seen a few fashion shows over the years that have tried to change up men's fashions, which let's face it, can be deadly dull. I love being female and having options but even in my youth I would never have worn anything like those outfits.

1 - Fraternity initiation
2 - Lost bet with wife and has to clean the toilet (wearing her clothes just to get even!)
3 - Glue bottle disaster while attempting carpentry
4 - Fashion inspired by the elephant man
5 - Oxygen mask addiction
6 - Really likes Spot from the Little Rascals
7 - Vampire fetish with no clue how to wear a hooded cape
8 - New punk style wearing your mother's long jacket around your waist
9 -Star Trek (but couldn't quite get it right)
10 - Somebody just grabbed a wino off the street
11 - Catholic nun fetish
12 - Extreme knitting from grandma
13 - Ummm...yeah....the shirt says it all
14 - Nose picking prevention
15 - Aging Devo fan with neck brace
16 - WTF? Is that Ashton Kutcher?

Dreadmath -> RE: Men's fashion (1/11/2013 3:47:58 PM)

I actually have difficulty seeing any woman in clothes like these without blinking...several times. As for Men's fashion; I can't really relate to these all star or sport shoes (They look like what I would use for a ghetto disguise) or these colorful clothes with brands all over them. Just a full black outfit with shirt, jeans and boots and maybe a long coat or leather jacket (scarf if it gets cold) should do it.

Pro: Can just stuff them all in the laundry ^^.
Con: Everyone and their mother keeps asking you if you are in mourning.

Whoever designed them HATES men.

Well according to the caption, it was Yoko Ono's new men's line.

I want to know what drugs she has been taking so I dont touch them, they are clearly not fun.

When we see this type of stuff on runways it's not supposed to be the styles that men and women will wear and become a trend. They are used as concepts for other designers for future trends by taking away inspiration from the pieces. I have a niece who went to Parsons in NYC and so I attended quite a few shows with her pieces and other students' pieces. This is the way she explained it to me anyway when I would attend the shows and see such things. It was about the materials and the shapes and ideas more than anything else.

Uh any future designs for men that were inspired by this stuff is not going to be worn by straight men. I am not sure many gay men would were anything inspired by this.

LOL that made me think of Seinfeld's "puffy shirt." [:D]

Yoko Ono's line is ridiculous.

Aries: That was YUM!

Well for example, #15, the collar. We see that stuff out on the streets all the time and the metal would have been the material being used for inspiration for male jewelry...bracelets, necklaces, watches, etc....

In the first few, the latex material would be the influence for future men's designs..not the shapes, but the material and how it could be shaped and used. Same with the one that looked like a Franciscan monk, showing the heavy wool material being draped over and flowing possibly for a wool coat design. Anyway, like I said, this is what I was taught by my niece after her teaching me about the runway shows.

Give me pocket tees, jeans, deck shoes or boots, a ball cap and that is formal wear to me.

I first fell in love with Pit Bulls because of Petey.

As to the OP . . . I am trying to imagine myself with my Ray-Bans, my narrow brim fedora, my beard, hairy chest tufting out the top, thick masculine legs and broad shoulders in that effeminate knock kneed pose wearing a rubber dress and sissy boots. Ack
