The older you are... and the more intelligent you are...the less sleep you need so they say...So... I am very smart but too old the remember it.

I get about 4 hours a night and not an exaggeration...and I feel it each day. I have tried every sleeping potion made by man... Most work just fine for 4 or 5 days... then until I stop use and a week after I often sleep maybe an hour a day until my system is cleared…Then back to my 4 hours a night.

I have given up...I hope you find an answer.

Butch

I find magnesium supplements extremely helpful for insomnia. Take the magnesium glycinate form, not citrate; easier on the digestive tract. Another form of magnesium is in epsom salts, dissolved into a hot bath. And no hallucinations, which is either good news or bad.

Thank you for caring Lynnxz...I'm used to it and i don't think my condition is that unusual for my age.

Heh... Take too many and you'll be up all night AND have bubble guts.

I am lucky that I am only bothered with the inability to sleep about a week or so out of the month. The rest of the time I can sleep anywhere, anytime. I can't fathom 4 hours a night for an extended amount of time. I'd imagine that I'd be horrendously grumpy.

Aynne have you considered a relaxation recording with one of those soporific voices taking you into a light trance state?

I never had sleep problems until 7 years ago when my doc prescribed my klonopin (however you spell that) and then KEPT prescribing it for 3 years! Coming off of it was hell, and I haven't slept well since. I took Ambien for awhile, but I started sleep eating. I can go to sleep, but I wake at some odd time and lay there forever, then manage to go back to sleep about an hour before time to get up and feel like a zombie.

Ambien. Which, yes, is addictive.

And causes fugue states while the user acts quite stoned (from what I've been told, and evidence found the next morning).

And can be dangerous. Semi-coherent cooking? Risky.

But that shit WORKS.

Benadryl leaves a hangover. And eventually the effects are attenuated.

Melatonin is a placebo. Oh-- Spoiler Alert.

I've used ambien before....yup, addictive, blackouts, loss of memory, doing things I don't remember, falling down stairs and not remembering and wondering where I got so many bruises and bumps from, just to name a few.

Oh hell yeah...amazing stuff! Makes you feel as good as you can possibly feel! But ya know, when you almost kill yourself and hurt others around you, that's when you know, it just might not be such a great med for insomnia lol.

but it definitely cured my insomnia at that time. I've never yet found anything that works except for that unfortunately and I refuse to take the ambien anymore.

The same thing that makes my niece's boyfriend more tolerable... 1.5 liters of black velvet and pain pills.

Eh...Crown Royal....same/same.
