What's your favorite coffee maker.

I like the French Press coffee maker I have but since there is no heating station on it, its really only good for the immediate cup of coffee.

I've had a few coffee makers and my biggest gripe with them is that the coffee is never quite hot enough. I am going to have to replace the coffee maker I have now and if someone out there just LOVES their coffee maker I'd like to hear about it.

I do not want the K-cup coffee makers, they are okay for a single cup (still not hot enough in my opinion) but far too expensive in the long run.

I am looking for a fairly reasonably priced coffee maker - preferably under $100 - while it might be nice to get a professional espresso machine, spending that much isn't in my budget.

An insulated french press might be nice for you.

Myself, I use a french press for the coffee/chickory half of my cafe au lait.

And, I have an old school stove top Bialetta Moka Express pot for my espresso.

Neither cost over $30 I believe.

I just bought a Mr Coffee Pump Espresso Maker for $80 at Target. With the right grind of coffee, it is very close to a good espresso. How fine you grind the coffee makes a huge difference! It makes hot coffee, unlike other ones I tried. The worst ones I tried have been Krups. The Mr Coffee is a bit slow in dispensing, but still faster than drip. I don't know how this machine will hold over time. But at $80 it is a good deal. The problem with these cheap machines is, they break very easily. But a "La Cimbali" is a bit out of my budget right now.

I love my K cup brewer and use the insert so I can use whatever brand of coffee I want. The new ones do have a heat adjustment. Personally, I don't like coffee that's been sitting on a burner for awhile. So, one cup at a time is ideal, especially since it only takes a moment to get a fresh cup.

Before that I had a Cuisinart that ground the beans and then brewed the coffee. It was a great machine, but a pain to clean.

I also love my K-cup brewer. Mostly because I really only drink one cup of coffee and it's much easier than making a pot, half a pot, or whatever. I find that our coffee is plenty hot, but we have a newer model. I like the variety I have if I want a second cup. Maybe my first cup was dark roast, but now I want a mocha.

We have a local coffee shop that roasts their own and I love their coffee. But, I like that I can just as easily make tea or hot cocoa.

Master gets up and 5:30am, I get up at 7am. By the time I get up the coffee would be nasty, so I'd make a new batch. Getting a coffee pot to brew small amounts is a pain. so we'd each end up throwing some away.

A K-cup at work has been a godsend to end coffee arguments.

I'm a tea drinker these days, probably due to all the horrible coffee from when I was in the USAF, lol.

Yep, you can brew your favorite coffee in the Keurig's, no need to be limited by K-Cup offerings. I don't have one but family members do and they all love their Keurig's.

I have a Bunn with a heated water reservoir. I love it. After brewing a pot I pour it into a Zorijushi thermal carafe. The carafe keeps the coffee piping hot for hours.

Together it cost about $140.00.

I'm a fan of a french press, personally. I've seen a couple of single serving, and since it uses boiling water, the temp is up to you. A turkish coffee pot it my second favorite. Stronger pot of caffeine though.

My personal favorite coffee maker is a 1.5 gallon campfire percolator. When I lived in my old house it got cleaned once a month and through out the month I would take half the grounds out and add more fresh coffee.

FYI, I could use the coffee to clean black powder gun parts rather nicely, after it had been brewing a week or so.

My Capresso drip maker is amazing.

My Keurig is in the closet, though -- it just can't make a strong enough cup of coffee for me, even when I use my own blend.

I am in the market for a new coffee maker.

I am leaning towards the K Cups brewer now that I know with the insert, I can use other brands/types of coffee.

I really didn't want to get a K-cup coffee maker - we have one at work and its fine, but I want one at home that I can make a full pot or half a pot at a time. If I have company I want a pot of coffee.

I like the idea of the insulated French press - I really do like the one I have (it was really inexpensive too) it would keep it warmer longer, which is good.

While we're on the topic of coffee makers I should add that my sister-in-law actually makes percolated coffee (for the most part, a lost technique) on the stove top - not one of the electric percolators. Not for everyday, but when she has company - I have to say it makes really wonderful coffee and you realize once again what truly HOT coffee is again. Percolators are a pain though.

Like I said, my biggest gripe with automatic coffee makers is that they only start out at warm - and are barely lukewarm by the time you've added cream.

Aldorax, you mentioned a Capresso drip coffee maker - what model?
Smartsub - you mentioned a Bunn with a heated water reserve? Which model is that - I did a quick search and they both have a lot of models on the market.

I just wanted to add that I have a Keurig brewer and love it as I only drink one cup a day as well. When the boys are home, they drink coffee at odd times, so a pot was usually useless and needed to be tossed. If you use the reusable coffee filter insert, the cost of the coffee is dramatically reduced because you don't need to buy k cups. I get some very strong coffee with the reusable filter insert using ground espresso for the coffee, and filling it all the way to the top.

I've owned every kind of coffee making device known to mankind over the years, with the exception of $4k to $6K commercial expresso stations, and I've had plenty of shots from those.

At home, the hubble-bubble is my favorite, followed by its inverse cousin the AeroPress, but they are a lot of hassle.

The optimal combination of reasonable price, good flavor, and convenience is the Keurig for single servings, and a Bonjour press into a filtered vacuum carafe for larger quantities (use a burr grinder on the coarsest setting to cut down on sediment).

There are a lot of coffee myths out there, one being that the darker the roast the more caffeine, another being that the hotter the water the better, another being freezing coffee.

Thanks, THIS is what I needed to know.
I didn't realize I had so many options with the Keurig until this thread!

*I understand why you don't want one Banshee, but I rarely need more than one or two cups at a time, these days.
