MyHazelLabyrinth -> Fishing for opinions (1/1/2013 6:56:07 PM)

Hello all :)

I hope you all had a pleasantly nice new years and welcome into 2013 (who better to welcome you than an aussie xD)

I have something i need some SERIOUS feedback on. It is driving me bonkers.

Ok so i can't for the life of me work out a particular kind of mentallity is still in existence and full throttle. What i'm talking about is the mentallity of "i always get what i want and if i dont i cause shit until i get my way" which is linked into the simillar mentallity of "i'm always right"

The very self-absorbed/burning with self entiltement. Do you know what i mean?

It's mostly (as i said mostly, subjectively speaking) seen in the young teens up to those that are quite mature in age. It could be an age thing, where it needs to be grown out of. But i see it as a personality thing. Because that's what it is, really. Selfishnes capital basically.

What i want to know is, why is it still around and so dominantly shown? If it didnt do the "user" any good then it would have died out and there would be no point of it. People are stupid for the most part. But for the most part they will not act a certain behaviour it it doesnt get their desired result.

In this Western society I think that the media and advertising and peer pressure and all that jazz just encourages people to be narcissistic. As that is how so many "celebrities" are recognized. Through their own profound sense of self importance and that everyonee else should be grateful that they have time for them.

My question is, why is this attitude still seemingly so common and growing more? How do we stop it or atleast somehow make people more aware that there is more to life such as other people etc?

Everything i've written is based on my own experiences.

A punch in the mouth still works.

You haven't had children, Hazel. Babies are always that way. They cry when they don't get their way. Children have tantrums. It's supposed to be gone by adulthood.

I disagree. Loss of self control is NOT a Dominant trait. However, there are some folks who think that being a Dom/me means they always get their way and get pissed when it doesn't happen.

They're not Dom/mes. Move on.

MyHazelLabyrinth -> RE: Fishing for opinions (1/1/2013 7:36:22 PM)

True that but small hands make it a bit tiresome sometimes.

MyHazelLabyrinth -> RE: Fishing for opinions (1/1/2013 7:39:49 PM)

You are right i have not. But that is babies and children you are referring to. I am talking about adults, with responsibilites and obligations. Those that know you have to put in quite a bit of hard work and effort to get where you want or what you want. Rather than it just being given to you on a golden platter. Could that be part of the issue?

I think you may have misunderstood. I didnt mean dominant as in a "dom" but i meant it as in it seems to be so common with people, yes i know that's a generalisation. I am not talking lifestyle related, i am referring to the population at large.

DarkSteven -> RE: Fishing for opinions (1/1/2013 7:57:49 PM)

Ah, got it. I referred to children because they universally have no self control. Adults SHOULD but sometimes don't.

It is becoming more common amongst the general population. Darn.

Rule -> RE: Fishing for opinions (1/1/2013 8:06:47 PM)

You answered your own question: these people are narcists. In psychology they are said to suffer from a narcistic personality disorder.

They are around because they are extremely useful. Both because of what their minds lack and because of the one thing that their mind has in abundance. And this one thing that they have in abundance is what distinguishes them from animals. Though of course arguably their lacks they have in common with animals.

There are other people who are equally crazy, but in different ways; I am one such person.

There will always be a need for us crazy people, but we are not the evolutionary goal of our species. That goal is the human being whose mind distinguishes itself in all aspects from that of an animal. I know one such person.

And how to get less of us crazy people? That is up to the adulterous females who fall in love with males with whom they are not married. (Such superior males will always have genes that are superior to the genes of the man with whom they are married.)

Define 'recognized' when you reference celebrities.
If you mean to say that the reason that they become celebrities is due to their 'profound sense of self importance', then I would have to disagree with you.

Also, you say "everyonee else should be grateful that they have time for them."
Where is the lack of Truth in that feeling, if they did feel that way?
Imagine the entire world wants nothing more than five minutes with you.
All ~7 billion of us.

I know I would hope that anyone I chose to spend time with would be grateful for my time.
Just as much as if I gifted them with a diamond that the whole world felt was beautiful or anything else that was universally or largely desired.

Essentially, I think 'blaming the media' is a shallow and overused scapegoat that prevents people from placing the blame where it belongs. Just like when people blame the government. What is the media made up of? What is the government made up of? What do these entities serve, what do they reflect?

People. Us.

--

It has already been recognized that people do things they are rewarded for.
People continue behaviors that yield them desired effects.

That isn't about age, or growing up, or anything but strategy.
You take a problem.
You find a functioning solution.

For these people, creating negative consequence until their desires come to pass is a valid strategy.
The real problem is not the strategy.
The real problem is what their desires are.

That their desires don't include "more to life such as other people".

Ask yourself - Why does the fact that there are other people in the world relevant to you?
Why does it matter if other people suffer if you have everything you desire?
You want them to feel like you, that the happiness, strength, and respect of others is important.

I'd ask you to consider the logical reasons why it may not be important.
From that understanding, you shouldn't have many problems understanding why this feeling and selfish sentiment is growing.

--

The two solutions are simple.
Strip people who would use their power in such a way of their power.
Prevent this tactic from working.

When people use misery and inflict suffering as a tactic, smile and be a wall.
Eventually, they'll have to stop.
But have we really solved anything at that point?

The other strategy.
Is to figure out why it doesn't matter to them when others suffer.
And give them a reason to care.

Mark me curious as to why unmarried men or men that these women are not married to would always have superior genes.

You missed the qualifier: whom they fall in love with. All other males obviously have as many or even more inferior alleles than the man they married.

You're correct, I did miss that qualifier and it is very relevant. ( =
Thanks for pointing that out.

littlewonder -> RE: Fishing for opinions (1/1/2013 9:54:06 PM)

it's the mememe society.

It continues because they DO get what they want....attention, be it good or bad and many people are led by their quick emotions. The only way you will ever see this disappear is for people to learn how to control their emotions and learn to not give a shit or learn to put people on ignore or block.

And there's another reason.....it's pure entertainment. I admit I'm sometimes bored and so when the people that you describe come online, I like to play with them like a cat playing with a mouse. It can be fun.
