ServosCor -> the New Year is almost here....... (12/29/2012 1:57:12 PM)

Curious as to how many here have given thought to New Year's Resolutions.  Do you make them?  Have you been successful in keeping them?  Motivating factors that keep you on track???

Mine for the NY are pretty simple.

Get Healthier......thru better food choices and more exercise.
Take some type of class at local college.... learn a new language, cake decorating, anything!  Just to LEARN something new.                         Be kinder.......even to those who sometimes annoy me.
Be thankful for each and every day I'm here......on the not so good days FIND a reason.  It's there.

Ooh...I just made them and wrote them down two minutes ago.

New Year's Resolution #1: Use my crock pot more.
New Year's Resolution #2: Use my elliptical more.
New Year's Resolution #3: Use my passport more.

(I'm going to keep the "be a better person" resolution for another time. Going with the K.I.S.S. approach this year.)

i don't make them. i think i used to be i doubt i ever stuck to them if i did. i know what i want out of life, and have given myself two years to get that cracking. the last three have been difficult, but i did learn to drive, bought a car, and i'm now independent in the areas i needed to be. being able to drive, and having the car i do has meant that i can also help out my friends who helped me when i couldn't drive.

so no, no resolutions, but i do have ideas of how i want my year to go. most of it rests on my ex getting a brain and doing the right thing. if he does stuff will happen quicker, if not then it will just take longer.

Kaliko... I liked your idea of using the passport more often :)   I'm thinking of a cruise if all goes well around April.  I really think it's important we take care of ourselves....in all ways possible.

Build a Mud/storage room on the back porch to hold my yarns and books. With a cool lightening fixture. Oh and to put the freezer in it so the kitchen can have more space for the table. Get new steps for the front deck with railings. I want plywood on the floor and outside, insulate it and set up an altar for my candle magick. This place is to make room in my bedroom.

Get started on a mosaic baby afghan for the county fair next year.

Get the duckie afghan ready.

I am contemplating as my resolution to try and fix one new vegetable a month.

sexyred1 -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/29/2012 7:15:16 PM)

My resolution is to not have 2013 be as bad as 2012, although so far, it looks like that is long shot.

LadyRedRoseToo -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/29/2012 7:21:37 PM)

i don't bother with resolutions, just try to be the best me i can be every day. some days it's easy, some days i could kick myself, but that's the way it goes.

littlewonder -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/29/2012 10:03:50 PM)

I don't make them either. I gave up on them years ago. I just let life go by day after day and hope I wake up in the morning to a warm, sunny day.

NuevaVida -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/30/2012 8:17:12 PM)

I don't do "resolutions" but I do make it a point to continue down the same mental, physical, emotional and spiritual path I've set out on. I don't see January 1st as a marker or indicator of any kind.

stellauk -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/30/2012 8:35:51 PM)

No.. no resolutions here...

I tend to see the New Year as a sort of celebration of getting through the last year and a time of hope for the coming year.

I personally find that resolutions resemble plans and are subject to unforeseen ciercumstances. They also involve expectations.

I much prefer hope, it's universal and you can find it even in your darkest days. Hope is also the mother of dreams and love.

I made a resolution some number of years ago not to make any more resolutions.

So far I've been successful in keeping it.

I never make resolutions

I do set monthly goals for myself though

Silentrunner26 -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/31/2012 3:39:49 AM)

Prove to her I am worthy of what she offers .
Show her that even though she lost the love of her life she is still able to be loved .
Never let a call for help go unheard .
Never let her think she is not loved unwanted or needed .
Prove to myself I can do great things with her by myside .

myotherself -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/31/2012 3:48:27 AM)

I don't normally make resolutions, but this year I'm changing all that.

On christmas day, my brother's wife had a bad fall while drunk (yet again).

Next day, she developed a blood clot on her brain and needed emergency surgery which took 8 hours in total.

She nearly died. She's 3 years younger than me, and a mother of two. Her expected long, difficult recovery was caused by her poor choices and her addiction to alcohol. Yet this tragic accident, which may leave her disabled for life, probably saved her life. Without it, she'd have drunk herself to death.

I've done a lot of thinking.

I will make the choice to improve my own health. Conquer my own addictions (food, mainly) and make my future a happy place to look forward to. Every healthy day is a joy, every day should be cherished.

Level -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/31/2012 4:32:33 AM)

Mine:

Nutrition, lifting, meditation, and being more at peace within, which will translate into more peace with others.

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/31/2012 9:36:29 AM)

Mine...

Continue making my relationship with my husband my number one priority.

To make myself better and healthier, both mentally and physically.

To stop sweating the small stuff.

TheLilSquaw -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/31/2012 9:49:55 AM)

They are not really resolutions but goals I am setting for myself.

Continue to eat healthy and work towards my better over all health and weight loss.

To continue to work on making ME a priority.

LookieNoNookie -> RE: the New Year is almost here....... (12/31/2012 5:06:50 PM)

Interesting.

I've decided to become more like me.

Where I'm lacking, I'll spend more effort being more like me.

If I fail, I'll direct more discernment to be....well....more like me.

And in the end....well....
