I'm more fake than the other leading brand, but Athena likes me, so I can't be all fake.

OMG, I just noticed the change in your sub-title Ms Good Two Shoes. Okay, dish the dirt, how'd you earn that second shoe?

Notice I didn't say it IS a violation, just that it could be construed as one.

Perhaps by someone with traumatic brain injury. I think she's safe.

Personally, I wouldn't put anything on a public profile that could even remotely point to me or single me out in any way.

I do agree. I would remove the band name, and just call it "vocalist of a music group". If you want to share that information, it is good enough to do it with personal messages. It gets worse once a band gets recognition! I don't even share this kind of information upon the first few messages.

My question was more aimed at whether it was bad because of an.. Advertising products sense. I don't mind if people know this kind of personal info, they're welcome to it, as my interests aren't a secret in real life. So was your suggestion based around it being against the rules, or about it being perhaps a little too open?

TheLilSquaw -> RE: General Site Questions (12/27/2012 1:32:38 PM)

I see tons of people mentioning online games like WoW so I don't think that is a TOS violation.
Nor do I see you posting your bands name as a TOS violation, not much different than saying I like GNR.

Btw... love your sense of humor!

My comment was related to personal safety. I don't think it is a violation of the TOS. I am also thinking about to protecting the group/organization/band/company you belong to. You maybe fine with it, but how about them?

A fair point admittedly, but knowing them personally I can't say that people knowing their band member was into getting curb-stomped in the bedroom would bother them. But I take your point, it's something to think about.

Possibly a bit of both.

We have seen a swathe of Mod activity at times that doesn't always make sense; hence the naming of the band where you say you are the vocalist. Theoretically, you could be singled out and hence that would be a violation of ToS as it would make you individually identifiable if some nutter really wanted to find you.
I guess that's where CM is trying to protect people by saying it's against the ToS to have any identifiable info on your profile.
So that is where I would err on the side of caution and be slightly less open.

As for the online gaming, I don't see that as a problem at all.
Just as many other players are online in any one of shed-loads of online games, you aren't really individually identifiable other than as your role-play character.

There are enough nutters out there in the real world without helping some of them to make you their personal target.
