I am not much of a talk show watcher but I happened to overhear a TV show my mom was watching today, Dr Phil.
It is a pretty good show demonstrating how someone can be sucked in to an online/on phone relationship only, without ever having met the other person.

I'm always amazed that in this day and age, that people still fall for the online relationship stuff. I mean, it's so typical and common. I guess just some people are that gullible and lonely though. I dunno.

it amazes me too. This sort of thing happened to me early on in my internet life, back in 1996. Well over a decade later it is hard to conceive of people are still naive about relationship scams and deceptions.

I just watching some of the videos posted there. Really, Phil tries to sell his book to (the TV audience and) these already victimized women? IMO Dr. Phil is full of himself. :(

I don't think it's so much that they are naive, just desperate and lonely to the point they refuse to see reality. The fantasy is better until it is forced to become reality.
