Oh, not a fan, I'm afraid. It's a bit too much for me. I can definitely see why you like it though.

In that setting.........tacky. I think the whole of that room is tacky.

In a more modern themed room........they can be very cool.

The first and third rooms in the link are examples of cool.

Oops, I didn't even notice the link...the first is much nicer. Quite 'winter wonderland'. Still not quite my thing but definitely nicer.

Like LaTigresse said I think it depends on the setting. But overall I think they are fantastical, and I would love to have some fun fiber optic light decorations. I especially liked the pillows. I wonder how comfortable they would feel.

The purple is a bit much in that room.

But I love the silver and the blue, they would be great for the holidays... and the pink and green as accents, in the right setting, I would buy.

You could have your own red light district!!!!
some of the fashion ideas were fun, but I would go with the mauve green combo:)
LOL
its just something different I thought I would share, not because of the room or the layout, but more the specifics of the actual fabric being fibre optic, Im sorry I should have made it clearer

i have problems with some fo lights as depending on how they are used they can give me awful migraines. i don't like the setting in this thread....those centre pieces are bloody awful....but i did quite like the 1st + 2nd as with LaT. i did like the white chair as well. it would be nice for a winter themed party/wedding i guess.

The purple is too tacky for me.
The FO's are too tall for the tables and the whole thing is just... OTT.

I liked the blue though.
Much more restful on the eyes for that type of setting.

I wasn't too keen on most of the interior home decor either.

Tacky. It might work if the lights were much more dim. Almost where you have to check to see if your eyes are working right.

They are the same as most things, if there is enough money spent on them they will stop being kitsch and will become chic. Throughout history, over the top kitsch has been seen as the height of good taste. For example, the mirror gallery in Versailles or the amber chamber in the Catherine Palace in St Petersburg. Both utterly kitsch but done on such a grand scale, they have become seen as works of art.

I have seen end tables or bars done that way, or it embedded into concrete counters.. the counters are interesting, i think, but its a more minimum effect, not concentrated.. it can be ok in bars but I dont like it in fabrics at all..

I think regardless, it would become dated and you would grow tired of it pretty fast, imo.. sorta like avocado shag carpet did..

I like things that are more than passing fancies.. things that I will like & enjoy for a very long time, making the cost/investment worthwhile.. I like my men that way too..

Tacky. I didn't like any of them that was in the link.

Maybe if they were in a different setting, used differently, I may like them, but not in those photos.

It might be very popular in the future hash bars of Seattle, but most of the images at the link struck me as tacky. Maybe for the curtains in the guest room. We are going for a specific vibe in there, and those might do an excellent job of making people feel uncomfortable after a few days.

I can imagine some very cool stuff done with it though. Trim along a staircase, maybe, and the pillows are cool.

In those pictures... maybe a bit much? BUT! Depending on what project you want them for, they can be awesome! :) Maybe have a "galaxy" themed wedding and have those used as curtains and a fibre optic "milky way" for the couple to walk down the isle on...

Have seen so much of all of this its kind of eh, another party someone spent 100 grand on.they are cool, people really like them & pic one with the white/silver could go winter wonderland oh so easily & have people talking for months! Lights & luminescent fabrics are the cutting edge. I see jogging outfits soon that the entire thing glows like this, even this technology being added to custom car paint to change effects & lead to fiber optic paints that can change colors jetson style.

Personal fave is ribbon dancers on fiber optic fabric like this.

fiber optics always remind me of Miami in the 80's.

I don't think tacky and cool are mutually exclusive. A little bit of tacky indulgence can be fun, especially at Christmas.

I didn't like the picture posted, but the white tablecloth in the link was nice, for some kind of winter ball. Some of the brighter colours would be great for a sensory room or a kid's den.
