$1.20+(8/10) for regular and $1.36(+9/10) for Premium per litre at Esso in my city in Ontario. I'm south across Lake Ontario from Lucy.

That's $4.09 and $5.18 per gallon respectively.

Darkfeather -> RE: Price check: gas (11/22/2012 12:12:20 PM)

Saw a $3.98 just down the street, but average is $3.50 around here

MariaB -> RE: Price check: gas (11/22/2012 12:17:11 PM)

In England its around $15 a gallon! here in France its around $10 a gallon. That's why not many people drive around in gas guzzlers

JeffBC -> RE: Price check: gas (11/22/2012 12:41:35 PM)

4.75 USD a gallon here in Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

playfulotter -> RE: Price check: gas (11/22/2012 5:22:38 PM)

$3.97 here in Santa Monica, CA but the last time I tried to fill up they had most of the pumps roped off for some reason and I just went to my favorite but more expensive station in Brentwood and it was more...I have a thing about only going to Unocal Stations. I am surprised to see such high prices in other parts of the US as here in California we usually have the highest I think but I might be wrong....I think it might be because they were overcharging us not too long ago and claiming weird reasons.

DomMeinCT -> RE: Price check: gas (11/22/2012 9:46:58 PM)

$3.69 in CT

I'm in England - if I worked out the conversion right, about $8.33 a gallon.

I lived in W Berlin from '82-'84. I remember Euro. prices so I think we in the US are a little spoiled in that way.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Price check: gas (11/23/2012 8:05:01 PM)

3.87 in San Luis Obispo, Ca.

I'm 5 hrs north of you and gas prices are approx $1.25.9 per liter which converts to $5.72 per gallon.

Yep I just worked it on our local station tonight and it comes in at $8.45 for a US gallon.

In the UK if you pay £1.35 for a liter of fuel £0.80 of that cost would be tax.

You must live in a cheap part of the UK.

The cheapest around here is £1.39 a litre and most places are in the £1.41-£1.43 per litre.

Paladin9 -> RE: Price check: gas (11/24/2012 6:32:33 PM)

You can't compare gas prices from one Country to another because of the taxes levied on the fuel. Here in the US different States have different taxes on the fuel, in CA they doubled the flat rate from 18 to 36 cents and we pay ~8% sales tax also.

All western european countries have high gas prices to pay for their cradle to grave social services.

FWIW I spent 2 years in Germany and my in-laws live in Austria.

needlesandpins -> RE: Price check: gas (11/25/2012 1:20:25 AM)

amazingly our fuel has dropped locally from £1.43 to £1.38

i certainly wouldn't be complaining if our fuel dropped to the price you Americans pay.

Really? I'm very glad prices are higher here in Canada. The prices American's pay are partly a result of yet more corporate welfare (oil subsidies) which are expensive from a tax standpoint. So you'd be buying cheaper gas and using more of it and hiding the cost via taxes. I personally think that's a very unwise fiscal and energy strategy.

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: Price check: gas (11/25/2012 10:45:52 AM)

In Western Maine gas has been about $3.54/gal for a week or so, but we drove by a place yesterday that had it posted for $3.49/gal.

TallullahHk -> RE: Price check: gas (11/25/2012 11:19:50 AM)

$420-ish for prime here in Boston.
