That's one thing I find curious,I'm a bit of a movie buff,somehow I missed all of the usual pre-movie buzz about this project.....lol Than I saw the commercials about a month ago and I was like...."wow".....just curious thatI hadn't taken note of thise before that. LaTige I was not aware of the particulars of Lewis's preparation....but that doesn't surprise me....this is what great actors do when they assume a role However he prepared,whatever his little ticks are....this was the performance of a lifetime in a role of a lifetime I promise folks ,I will not make another post in which I say he is a sure fir nominee,and a likely winner of,a statuette.....but I stand by that As I said run to see this film...and Latige,I enjoy a film at home too...but some deserve the whole big screen feel...this is such a film,please go see this in a theater....You will not be sorry you did(besides if Yo are sorry You can beat my ass,win win for all ;-)

Hmmmm, I'm a Civil War buff, love DDL, think well of TLJ, read the book, hate, as in abhor, loath, despise Spielberg. Quite the quandary

I know virtually nothing of the American Civil War. Apart from it was the first to have photo journalism

It's quite common in the city for people to attend movies alone, and I've certainly done it myself. Usually a matinee, though, rather than in the evening. I'm glad you went (and enjoyed) the movie! It's on my list of must-sees, but have been too busy of late to get to the movies....

I spent like 5 years devouring everything written about the war. I've walked battlefields from Murfeesboro and Shiloh to Gettysburg, Chancellorsville and Spotsylvania and Cold Harbor...pretty much every battle fought by The Army of North Virginia. I used to live maybe five miles from Antietam and have spent days on that field. Hell, I dropped acid on the fourth watching the re-enactment of Pickett's Charge. It's the single most defining era of US history...and as a history buff, it fascinates me. Not just the repercussions, but the men themselves, giants like Lee, Sherman, Longstreet, Grant, Sheridan.

Most movies I see alone. Not because I want to all the time, not because Master doesn't want to go but it's just that I have more time on my hands in the daytime while Master is at work. But there are times when I enjoy going to the movies alone. I like the quiet time, I like the sparse theater, I like the alone time. But most times I would rather go with Master.
