i don't have anything vanilla anymore. nothing that constitutes as being a normal relationship as such. what i have is a thing going on with a man whom i view as my friend, and lover. we just do our own thing that happens to contain kink, pervery, and D/s on some twisted level that is ours. however, within that we still cuddle up, spoon, kiss, snuggle up on the sofa, and tangle so close we are not sure where one ends and the other begins. is that classed as vanilla even though it is not the classic vanilla relationship?

Interesting reading all the responses, I find myself completely dominant on the kink side, controlling, strict, yet in the vanilla world I'm so relaxed I could be on the floor at any moment lol i'm the opposite of my kink side in vanilla life, I'm in a vanilla relationship with no kink whatsoever, i could never do anything kink orienated to her, she's too innocent lol whereas anybody else I wouldn't give a flyin feck if I mark them or whatever!

For me, different relationships inspire different energies.

I am always a dominant person. Now, if a person, say a work relationship, is more knowledgeable than I am, or per the company of more rank, then of course I am going to defer to them. It only makes sense.

Kink, I don't see as specifically required in any sort of relationship.......even a personal M/s relationship. In all honesty, I've known people I don't even like, that I could get very sadistic with and it wouldn't do anything for me sexually, but damn, would I get a rush from it. Then, on the flip side, there have been a very few that I adore, find sexy as hell, would get a HUGE rush out of doing some very mean and nasty things to. And hopefully (for her) she would get off on it as much as I, but it's not required. And lots of variations in between. Some s-types, I could, and have, have an M/s relationship that was completely satisfying, just because of the power exchange dynamic and not even consider sadistic play.

I work in a very corporate world.

I'm pretty different in my vanilla side. Kink side is submissive, affectionate, warm. Vanilla side is in control, assertive, sometimes a bit cold, often reserved. Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde.

I'm always me. Who else would I be? The fact that when with a grandchild I might be on the floor racing matchbox cars doesn't mean that I'm not the same person who the next day is tied up. I do what is appropriate for the situation and for the people I'm with.

The only difference I notice is that I'm only bisexual in BDSM; I've never been attracted to vanilla men.

But I don't see that as a difference in me, more the nature of BDSM: Dom/sub trumps gay/straight. I'm attracted to subs, their gender is secondary.

Don't know if this is what you are looking for but, when engaging on the kink side I am sadistic. However when being vanilla I can't watch any shows where there is torture. Shrugs, go figure.....
