Which means there is money to be made in advising people in how to set up dispensaries. How does one advertise to stoners?

DomKen -> RE: Pot is legal in WA! (11/7/2012 9:31:38 PM)

Is growing and distributing legal as well or just personal possession?

There is a production level, and a retail level. The retail level is handled similarly to state run liquor stores. The regs haven't been written yet, the statute is written broadly. So, what type of people want to go into the pot business. Like running a liquor store.

The head of the state liquor board was on the news tonight and said it will likely be a year before they have all the regulations and logistics sorted out.

I would expect pot to be treated much as alcohol is treated.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Pot is legal in WA! (11/8/2012 4:46:44 AM)

No doubt. That is the plan, to treat it like they treated liquor. They still have to come up with regs, but in the meantime, people who want to get in the business can be getting ready. Those are the people I need to market to.

There is money to be made here.

Iam, you haven't weighed in with your more than apprentice position here.   Now, if this starts happening alot, and this might be enough as it was for fucking around in california, but at some point we go to the scotus.   How is this anything to do with fed suzerainty?  none of these state laws are involved with 'among the several states' so ICC is out other than transporters.  And I have not hunted the USC to see the deal, but it must be federally stated and concerned only, if the states can do this.

How do they have any say in this whatsoever?

KenDckey -> RE: Pot is legal in WA! (11/8/2012 6:42:55 AM)

I just wonder when the Fed is going to step in and enforce Federal Law.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Pot is legal in WA! (11/8/2012 6:52:42 AM)

The DOJ is still enforcing the Controlled Substances Act. They have prosecuted lots of licensed medical marijuana dealers. Federal law preempts state law. There was already a Supreme case about it. I am assuming, however, that this is going to change also. There isn't much point in the Feds enforcing marijuana laws as more and more states legalize. I imagine there will be a case, and the AGs of Colorado and WA will have to defend their laws.
I am more interested in the regulatory side of the issue, though.

In Colorado, that's been an issue. Billboard advertising's been outlawed, and sign twirlers are being challenged in court. They use signage and ads in the alternative paper Westword.

Good to know, Steven, thanks. Of course, I am not looking for users, I am looking for people who want to run a business. Mpeople with money and clean criminal background checks,

mnottertail -> RE: Pot is legal in WA! (11/9/2012 8:08:31 AM)

It would seem that since it passed, there are people with money and business backgrounds clean records aplenty that would be for running a dope shop.

I would seek tobacconists, the 'head' shop types, botique music and clothes and incense sorta types........

I am seeing visions of a legal treatise and sort of rubber meeting the road business plan, tax plan, future plan and where and what to do and so forth coming from a lawyer that could be sold in booklet form with a seminar for those interested, and I think you can see the rest, (if there be viable partnerings and whatnot)  and of course it is something you could take on the road weekends around the state and corner as much as you can of that right now and have that rep.....   All up front and first, might make the news here and there........hopefully your name is not hard to spell.

You can expect the Governor of Colorado's re-election campaign to be waged on the side of Goldfish bags.
