Just getting back online....been quite a ride.....
Just wanted to say hey to my friends here.
I haven`t seen a TV or been online,seen a news paper etc. till tonight and haven`t had any time any time anyway......dealing with this storm.....I`ll get back AOAP but we`re dealing with something quite huge here.
There were probably a half million trees down in north Jersey and flooding up to 10-12 feet deep for as long as 5 days in some areas, along the shore` barrier islands.
I haven`t had power since last Sunday evening(eight days) and still don`t....the bad estimate is Dec 1st.The good one in next week....we have hundreds of snapped telephone polls to replace before new lines can be strung.
There are MILLIONS of homes without power and b/c of that can not run their heating systems.....forcing folks to seek other housing and in many cases.....FEMA (the heavy hand of government, to our cons)shelters as well as RedCross shelters.....It`s below freezing out right now....and windy.
The DOD(the heavy hand of government, to you cons) is bringing in tankers of fuel,and generators to run the stations without power....which is the main reason for the fuel shortage.
I can put into words how badly the shore towns took damage.Some towns had fires jumping from house to house...burning down a hundred houses at a clip because the water was so deep they could not fight the fires.
They just finished removing the trees and clearing the roads...a Hurculian task in itself.The power trucks are out in force,I`ve seen parking lots with 50 cherry-pickers parked at night.
And tomorrow we`re voting....here in NJ....may be a line or two but we pulled that off too.
