I agree with LaT. Being written up for a normal bodily function is pure asshattery.

But, it is proof that the PC thing can go too far. Another example was a woman I worked with (African American) was suffering from insomnia. She was telling us that at 4am she watched an old Gozilla movie. She was telling us how badly it was dubbed into English since it was dubbed by someone that didn't have English as a strong language.

A Korean woman who worked one row over quit the next day and sued the company saying she was being racially harrassed.

You may be tired of being PC, but in the workplace, you have to suck it up.

I just lost my job and had no idea why and a colleague told me she heard that I spoke up assertively to people on the phone (not even in person mind you, as I worked at home) and that alienated people because they were all quiet little mice afraid to give their opinions to our CEO.

I was never once abusive or mean or shrill or sarcastic or any other negative adjective. People are just really super sensitive and you have to try to blend in with corporate America.

Hard for me because I never really blend in as a redhead!

Redhead here too...I totally get it.

OP...I get not wanting to play the game, BUT if you work corporate, you kinda have to. That is the reason why I also work for myself. I wasn't into the fake political BS. That being said, it is not just the workplace you must play the PC game. I've learned to be "me". If someone doesn't like it, I invite them to not the let the door hit them in the ass when they leave.

FR -

It's not about political correctness. It's about having respect for your employer and fellow employees. If you want an avenue to express your personality flaws, I encourage you to become your own boss or change professions to something that suits that kind of expression.

The vast majority of people go to work, to get their job done and go home.

Deal with it.

I've just made my first year with my current company. The one thing I truly hate is all the PC (Political Correctness) Oh I said something that hurt your feelings. Put your Man Pants on and deal with it.

If you don't smile at the people that walk down the hallway they get upset about it, If I say something that someone feel is exclusionary I get a talking too.

What ever happened to being an adult and accepting that other people's opinions (While you might not like them) are just that their opinion and has nothing to do with you and your life!

Well, that would be because you have to pay the piper, in good economies and in bad.
