I know a lot of posters on this board who could go as Kool-Aid drinking zombies.

Kids out trick or treating are not only communists, they're also pagans and devil-worshippers. I hope the CIA is arming and aiming those drones as I write.

Well, to begin with, Fargle, I look at it in terms of charitable giving, which is something conservatives/Republicans do both more often, and at higher levels, than liberals/Democrats, who would likely prefer the government create a candy distribution administration so those annoying brats wouldn't interrupt them while watching Rachel and Ed. I'm sure a second term Michelle would have all sorts of helpful guidelines on healthy snacks that ought to be provided.

Besides being a way for poor kids to get a supply of candy that ought to carry them through until Christmas, trick-or-treating also teaches values that conservatives/Republicans believe in - the longer and harder you work it, the more intelligently you design your approach, the more successful you will be.

Why don't Jehova's Witnesses celebrate Halloween?

They don't like strange people knocking at their door.

LOL, Hill. I'm stealing that, and modifying it to our local Baptist mega-cult.

You have got to be kidding me.

The way that it works around here is that if you want to participate, you buy some candy, put it in a bowl, and leave your porch light on.

If you have children, you make or buy them a costume, give them some sort of candy holder (pumpkin buckets are the favorite at my house,) and walk with them around the neighborhood. Houses with porch lights on get "trick-or-treated." Houses with no porch lights are ignored. Occasional prompts are heard from parents about saying thank you.

Parents may or may not dress up.

Some houses decorate a LOT and some have a porch light and a pumpkin.

This also gives the adults in the neighborhood a chance to meet and greet each other as family units.

Our neighborhood is both republican and democrat. I would have to say that there is really no difference in how they behave on Halloween. The big difference that we have noticed is between those who own dogs and those who do not. No one that owns a dog fails to participate in Halloween.

This is the largest redistribution of sugar wealth in the history of the world.

Possibly, but the kids do not seem content with mom and dad just buying them a couple bags of candy.

A couple of months ago a whole bunch of maple syrup was stolen in Canada. It has since been recovered. (When I heard about it, I wondered if we were living John Ringo's Live Free or Die.)
